they hit buy it now on my ebay auction and now they are trying to scam me. they are not a registered member of ebay and ebay wouldn't let me send an invoice to them.

but they are emailing me trying to get me to ship the item out to them.

i've emailed them several times telling them i'll only ship out if they send me a money order first.

they claim they have sent me paypal (i haven't received it yet) and they want me to ship it out to an address in nigeria.

so, how far should i play this out, should i get authorities involved or should i just inform ebay and end it.

Authorities wont do anything about it, I dont even think they can.

Regardless, see how long you can drag this out...make 'em squirm. :p

your not feeling vindictive because they didn't end your ebay auction early, now i have to relist and probably have to pay another set of fees. kind of sucks.

do you guys know if ebay relists for free in these types of situations?

I seriously doubt they'll let you list for free.

And as far as the Nigerian's go, you should send them a dog turd in a box.

The authorities? Are you looking for someone to laugh at your face, cause we can always do that here. :)

I would just let ebay know. I've had that happen to me a few times now, and each time ebay had refunded the fees back to me.

would this just legitimize your email for further spamming. it's not like they're sending this crap out one at a time by hand

I second the idea of mailing a pile of shit in a box.

**EDIT**

You could mark the box "guaranteed"...its a guaranteed piece of shit!

You should have sent the clique mob to get him. Or the Governor.

Or BOTH!

The first one or two emails may be simple form letters that the scammers use, but if you string them along long enough, then it takes time and effort from them. I'm convinced there are FAR more honest people than scammers. If everyone took 10 minutes out of their time each week to string along these scammers, it'd stop being such a lucrative opportunity for them. But, if no one wastes their time, then they simply send out 10,000 emails in a matter of minutes, and manage to screw 1 or 2 suckers out of their money or merchandise.

The goal in toying with those people is to get a trophy. Ask them to send you a picture of them holding a sign that says something silly or humiliating. You could also claim to have sent the merchandise but to the wrong address. You can also try to send a bunch bricks or something COD.

Anus laptop anyone?

What you're doing is dangerous. Go to www.419eater.com and read the forum stickies. If you want to get into scambaiting, drop this one, since he can probably find out real details about you, and get a fresh scammer using a completely fake identity and a safe email address (gmail or fastmail)
