They came in the mail this morning! Gen 3, state of the art.

you realize that your headlights also serve the purpose of letting other cars see you, and it's illegal to drive with them off, right?

I've always wanted a pair, how much did they set you back?

BTW, driving with your headlights off is probably a bad idea, oncoming traffic could cause you trouble.

Heh, I not going to try them on the highway. There's a dirt road on my friend's ranch we'll use. Too much light on normal roads so it would not be a good test anyway. :)

So you don't win this years Darwin Award, please, wear your seatbelt...

...nevermind, you should probably get out of the pool for trying something like that. ;)

They retail for 3995.95. I got them for 2800.00 through my friends discount. Same model used by the military too.

You obviously don't know what NV goggles do. You do release people fly planes and helocopters with them don't you?

Holy crap, I'll probably spend only a little more than that on my next car.

Yeah, they actually work MUCH better than headlights, provided you are the only one on the road. But, contrary to what people think, shining a bright light directly into a pair of night vision goggles will NOT make the person go blind.

I like to go camping. I play paintball a lot. But mostly their for home defense ;) .

I tested several Russian models and the technology ISN'T very good. They're Gen3s are more like Gen1s.

Do they have french nv products in the US? A friend of mine has a really nice scope made by a french compant.

Anyway, just sitting out in your yard at night with them on can be surprising (if there's not too much light). My cousin was in her backyard having a beer and saw the neighbor lady meeting someone behind her house doing the passion thing, and it wasn't her husband--surprise!

I didn't see any French models because I wanted a complete system that would fit over my head rather than a scope.

"Home defense"? Are you serious, or are you really a peeping tom? This seems like a bizarre and extravagant expenditure for home defense (or, really, anything, other than stalking).

I have actually used the most current military NV goggles (I thought they were still unavailable to the public, though I may be wrong) at the Army Rangers school, but was told they were priced at something closer to $10,000. Admittedly this is the same DoD that paid $400 for a hammer, and $1,500 for my gas mask, so one never knows whether that reflects their market value.
