I have re-thought this through and considering RAM is SO cheap now, the new setup I want to go with is the following: ($$CANADIAN$$)

AMD K7 Thunderbird 1.2G 266FSB $189.99=218.48
ASUS A7M 266MHZ ATA-100 Socket A DDR ram $259.99= $298.98
Cambridge SoundWorks DeskTop Theater 5.1 DTT2200$179.99= $206.98
Sound Blaster Live! Value 5.1 OEM $89.99= $103.48
16x Pioneer DVD drive $99.99= $114.98
256 MB - 184 Pin DDRAM @ PC2100 / 266Mhz $89.99= $103.48

These are the parts I think I should get. If another DDR board comes out and the prices for DDR boards start to drop, then I will get that DDR board. Also, seeing as how I JUST bought the 256 mb pc 133 sdram, the vendor who sold it to me will give me a good price for it since he knows I JUST got it from him. I think seeing as how this upgrade will be the last one I do for at least 3 or 4 years, I should make it a good one, and everyone knows DDR is the wave of the future.

Tell me what you think.
p.s. I DON'T overclock and I run win 2k PRO.

Well, Abit is not what it used to be in terms of overclocking. And Asus has very poor overclocking features, too. Do you really know enough about other motherboards to consider them "bad"?

Well, it kindda sucks using no name, or not popular brand board. kindda hard to get help when have problems.

Good boards to go for are MSI's and Epox's.

You never heard of the best DDR chipset to date (nForce is not counted, 'cause it is not yet released)? SiS 735 outperforms both AMD761, KT266, and ALi MAGiK. ECS's mobo is the first released mobo based on SiS 735. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer much in terms of overclocking. But it's a good and stable mobo. Of course, I wonder when Asus' A7S266 and Abit's KS7-RAID would come out (both based on SiS 735, as well).

No offense man but just because you've heard the names Abit and Asus before doesnt mean theyre "good". I own an Asus and although its stable its overclocking is not so great. I agree with Jittos. MSI and Epox have been pumpin out some great boards recently. If anything your local shop carry boards from them.
