I got a new 17" Acer LCD monitor to go alongside my 19" Planar LCD and I thought I'd be happy...

But my "relatively" new Planar PL191M's (DVI) screen now seriously pales in comparison to the new Acer (regular Analog) I just got. The whites look more grey and bland and generally crappy while the Acer's screen looks bright white.

To think, my eyes were content with my Planar LCD until I sat another one beside it. Now I can't bear to look at it anymore :(

bummer, maybe you should get rid of both of them and start over. get 2 identical models, so they will be the same. more sameness == more goodness

The solution to this problem is a new 2001FP from Dell. I hear they're cheap now :D

Meh, for saving so much money by going w/ a inferior monitor, you'll get over it soon enough.

Now, time to place my order for that Dell 20" WS LCD...

I was thinking about getting a dual moitor setup with a 30" widescreen LCD for movies and a 17" regular LCD for normal usage... That would work wouldn't it?... The software can handle the different resolutions?

^wrong forum...

BTW, hows the ACER stack up to a Viewsonic VE710?

Never seen the Viewsonic, so Idunno. But the Acer I have now is pretty damn good. No ghosting either.

Yeah, you need to get rid of one and get a mate for the other.

Send me your PayPal and I'll send you $99 for whichever one you don't want.

Well, I got the Acer for roughly $99 + tax (after $70 rebate and two gift cards), so I'm not really complaining about it in particular...don't think I'll come across anything that low anytime soon so I went ahead and jumped.

I just didn't think that the difference would be THAT great between the two monitors.

Well, I had two $50 gift cards burning a hole in my wallet from CompUSA (got it as a rebate from some printers I bought back in december). CompUSA had the Acer for $269 - $70 rebate and I used the two gift cards. CompUSA rarely has anything else I want so I decided on an LCD.

How old is the Planar? I felt the same way going from a 15" Viewsonic to 19" Princeton.

the acer might be set high to impress but may burn out faster
