i use vitamin B5 as well. it works very well for me, made me near 100% clear. im down to 1 pill a day now and ive been on B5 for almost 2 years now. its awesome. other tips:

clean your pillow case very often
dont ever touch your face
use a good moisterizer (i like eucerin renewal)
try www.acne.org forums

It's nice to see someone else had the same luck. I started by taking 3-4 a day, only about a month ago i dropped down to 2. I could probably make it 1, but it's been good to me so I don't wanna push it:)

Proactive works great, but is expensive... and if you ever go off of it, it all comes back. I tried it in High School and it worked great until I forgot it one weekend on a trip... the following week wasa huge breakout.

I said screw it, and just changed soap to a less harsh stuff called Cetaphil... which has worked since then.

I was thinking about that.Im not someone who take lot of sun, do you think tanning can help?
It will only help temporarily. Sunbathing and getting a mild sunburn will do the same thing. But the acne just comes back.

Trust me, I've been there.

So i guess the cheapest solution is to take Vitamine B5, Take Zinc supplements,( peanut butter have some, but isnt there trans fat in peanut butter?)

I will not take accutane. That really scare me.Having liver problem etc is too much ro risk for just acne.

I guess i have to start my diet tomorrow!( well now, but i got some coffee i wanna finish lol :p )

It's important to be patient. Wash your face and back, but don't overwash it. It should stay hydrated, just clean. Be careful with supplements, some do have side effects or can be overdosed (although B5 and zinc are well tollerated), and try to stick with one manufacturer because they do vary. Do a little research on manufacturers but don't fall into the gimmicks that say "we are the only one that will work".

-Dave

EDIT: just wanted to mention, by patient I mean it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to a couple months to see results

i get my b5 from vitacures. i used to take zinc with it too, but not anymore. dont know if it helped, but it was cheap and definately didnt make it worse. they sell both. b5 might irritate your stomach at first, but it goes away pretty quickly after you adjust. i dont have any side affects anymore and i never had any of the hairloss problems they describe. supposedly you should take a b-complex vitamin at the same time to avoid deficiencies but i never really did. i did the typical routine, massive loading on b5 in the initial months (im taking multiple grams, 10 pills+) and then slowing down. probably less extreme ways of going about it though.

The diarrhea generally seen during the beginning is osmotic diarrhea because of the excess material of the pill (filler and vitamin combined) that can not be absorbed, because it doesn't have enough time to be absorbed. Basically any amount over the threshold that causes diarrhea is not getting into your circulation.

However aside from this, it's not going to hurt you. I never experienced any hairloss either, or anything other than the diarrhea (hence why I started at only 2g a day, to keep that to a minimum, of course spreading it out over a day can work too by giving more absorption time, but that's a pain in the a@@)...

Also, drink a lot of water, try to drink the recommended 64oz's/day. It's tough, and I've never been able to reach that, but it will definitely help.

I started something called "bp gel" about a week ago, it seems to work well. Basically it takes about two weeks to start really working, and those two weeks gives you a dry face, but with moisturizer its not a problem. My face is already looking clearer. Google "The regimen" to learn about it. Seems to have worked for a lot of people.

Dawn dish wahing liquid. Lather it up just like regular soap and wash twice a day with it. It may not cure you, but it will help. There won't be any next day results either; do this every day for a week or month and then you will see the difference.

Vitamin B5 is miracle.
I had a mild acne outbreak around my jawline last year.
Nothing works until I bought some vitamin B5 powder.
I am doing 1000mg a day right now and have been acne free since.
I heard there might be a side effect of losing hair, which I actually experience.
But I always have thick pretty hair, so I didn't mind losing a little.
Link to product I used
And Also watch out what brand of facial cleanser you used.
Personally my skin can easily irritated by oil-based cleansers or lotion.
I use neutrogena oil-free acne wash twice daily.
$7 you get a large bottle that can be used for 2 months easy.

like most in here have suggested

1. take 1-2 showers with soap (1 in the morning and 1 in the evening, if you only have time for one shower, then take it during the evening)
2. stick to a good diet. drink lots of water to flush out the system and to get hydrated ..exercise as well. eat veggies, increase fiber intake instead of other carbs.
3. try not to touch your acnes as you'll get the pores more dirty and might inflame them, let your body cope with them naturally.
4. put some lotion on your body (that has vitamin E)

i had/have a similar problem. gained a whoppin 50lbs in a few months or so, and i got a handful of "bumps" on my body. 1 on each upper arms and 2 on my chest and one on my back. at first i thought it was just a regular pimple and it would go away, totally forgot about them but after 2 years or so they would still be there! finally went to the doctor, he gave me some antibiotics, took it and it kinda helped, but he told me to shower more and such stuff. eventually one or two of them started to vanish (still there but much much smaller now). anyways it's been a year now and i just started to realize i haven't done much to get rid of these acnes. i shedded a lot of lbs in the past couple of months, about 35lbs, but it didnt help since i dont eat right. anyways, the past couple of days i've applied those generic cleansing for acnes - they're suppose to be facial cleansers, but i apply them on my arm and chest and i use dove soap religiously when taking a shower, and i've noticed a difference. so that's my 2 cents for ya

Not all skin cleansers work. I've used some products that work wonders, and some that actually seem to cause more acne.

I had Acutane for about 6 months and it worked, but I hated the effects....

nothing serious, but I think the one I hated most was the flaky dry skin and lips
and dry mouth. :(

Its worth it and is about the best option you have.

Good luck!
