I got a mac iPod when I ordered a PC...how do I make it work?

I ordered a 5 GB PC iPod refurb from apple.com, and instead they sent me a 10 GB Mac one. I know I can make it work in the PC...how exactly though?

Hmmm... Can't complain about that - 10 GB for a 5 GB price. 😉

Not sure, but my guess is you just need to plug it in to your Firewire port and format it FAT32. You'll need to provide power somehow though. If you have 6-pin Firewire you're all set, but if you only have 4-pin you'll need to use a separate power source to charge it up. However, you'll need the PC software. The old version of the Mac 10 GB doesn't come with PC software AFAIK, but the new 10 GB has both PC and Mac software on the same disc.

Which version do you have? Clickable buttons (old version) or touch-sensitive buttons (new one)?

I have the new 15 GB by the way for my TiBook. It is awesome. 🙂

You don't need to buy anything. It takes a few seconds. Follow the directions here and you are good to go.

w00t! Hope it works for ya. I have a 10 gig iPod myself, I love it.

BTW, what software are you using? Check out EphPod, free, and works great. Plus, its not Music Match 🙂

You need to buy some software to make it work too. I forget what it's called. Last I heard it didn't work that great either.

it works great! Loads like a HD and you copy music to it drag and drop what is hard about that?

you don't format it at all...doing so would render the Mp3 playback useless
