I got a laptop video problem

Okay I just got a Dell Inspiron 4000 with WinME. I installed Quake and Brood Wars and everything worked fine. I installed Win2k and still everything worked fine. I'm not sure what happened but suddenly overnight, my games started running in small screen mode. My friend mentioned something about a stretch mode on his Toshiba but I can't find the same thing in my Dell documents. Can someone enlightened me?

did you install a newer version of directx? just go back to winme =), I am not sure what your problem is, hopefully someone else can help.

i installed directx8 to try to fix the problem. but cant b it cuz opengl also runs in small screen. cant b win2k cuz it worked fine b4

did u try to update ur video drivers?

Does your labby have a tv-out?

If it does I think your laptop screen is on secondary instead of primary display. My IBM labby does what your saying when I have it as secondary display.

Try reinstalling the vid drivers. You know the drill. VGA than your Dell drivers.

its not that. i dont connect my laptop to anything and i double checked. it's on primary. i doubt it's the drivers either. it worked fine before, even after i switched to win2k. i haven't messed with the drivers before it started acting this way.

If it is an ATI video card do this:

Go to display properties, settings, advanced, displays.

There should be a button for panel. Click on it. On that page there is a button that says to scale the screen size. It should be clicked. 🙂

Hope this helps
