I got a laptop on ebay, and it arrived semi broken..

I got an old laptop on ebay and it arrived with a cracked LCD screen. It was due to the fact that he had no packaging around the laptop when it was shipped (bubble wrap) so it got damaged when shipped. I contacted the seller and told him about it, he said that I could eithe send him the laptop back and he'd attach another screen in his shop or he'd send another broken laptop and I'd do it my self.

Well I told him the latter and the other laptop came today. Well there is a problem with this 'new laptop' that came today.
1. Not only is the laptop a completely different model laptop, but the screen is smaller, a 9.5" screen instead of 10.4" screen.
2. The screen is a DSTN screen instead of the default TFT screen that would come with my model laptop.

Problem: I'm glad the guy took the effort to help make it right by sending me another laptop so I could repair mine, I'm a little ticked off, because I researched this laptop and choose this laptop specifically because of it's specifications, I wanted a laptop with a TFT 10" screen and instead I'm getting a 9" DSTN screen. What should I do? I've already contacted him but I'm worried hes just goanna give up. I paid quite a bit of money for this laptop, more than this laptop is really worth..

Absolutely, under any circumstances, NEVER buy computer hardware or software on ebay.

That's ridiculous. There are plenty of honest hardware sellers on eBay.

Did the specs say TFT screen? Did you ask if it was a TFT screen, or did you just ASSume?

He specified a particular model, and since that model only has a TFT screen, 10.4" which happened to arrive broken, that means it "" ""....

The 'fixer laptop' arrived with a missing floppy drive, DSTN screen that is only 9", I dunno what to do since I'm worried he may get ticked off or something..

The only one I know who is trustworthy is probably Gary who sells Portable Amp 2 Version 2 headphone amps 🙂 PA2V2... Well known on head-fi for the $60 shipped amp from Canada.

The guy replied, he asked me if I recieved my model laptop I purchased on ebay (you know, to repair) and I told him that I recieved a completely different model laptop..

What a fvcking retarded blanket statement. That's like saying "never ever trust anybody, ever!" Get a clue.

Just buy a new laptop for about $400 after rebates. Notebooks are getting very cheap. Even a low-end model is going to be much better than the used items you purchased!

LOL!! Free consultation on the inner workings of crappy low flow toilets in return for the correct model replacement of an overpriced laptop. (Y)

I purchased this intentionally, I've got a nice laptop already, I just wanted an older one so that I could 'toss it around' and use it for retro gaming I guess... The guy says he cross shipped the laptop with another's and is sorry, not sure what is going to happen...
