As many of you know, I have been looking for a job since graduating from Mechanical Engineering in May. I have been throwing my resume all over, and finally i have something to show for it. I have an interview this monday with Crown Metal Packaging.
CROWN Metal packaging Canada LP is a leading manufacturer of packaging products to consumer marketing companies worldwide. Our facility in CHATHAM seeks an enthusiastic, high caliber...

Engineer - Management Trainee

You will assist in improving our manufacturing process with the ambition of becoming our next generation of manager. You will be developed to assist in process improvements, maintenance programs, and support of the manufacturing process, including shift work.

You have a degree or diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent, one to three years experience in a manufacturing environment and are familiar with continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with high-volume manufacturing, tooling, and AutoCAD would be considered strong assets. Your excellent communication and organizational skills will enable you to motivate and develop the team.

We offer an attractive salary and benefits package.

Yeah, I've been on their site a few times, nothing on the operations I am interviewing for. They are a huge international corperation, the site is definately focused on the US.

Make 1 in 5 pop cans, 1 in 3 food cans. Might be a good ticket into the US if I want.

Just show them your ability to cross the ceiling using nothing but your lips . . .

Hey, look ! There's our boy !

Just be calm and sincere in the interview - if you don't know the answer to a question, the correct response is
" I don't know " DO NOT try to 8ull5hit your way around it.

The 1 -3 years experience in a manufacturing environment is no big deal, they're looking for a TRAINEE in the MANAGEMENT side.
Many places use people with 'People Skills' who are quite illiterate about the mechanical part of the puzzle -
they're looking to have a person in a position who can direct others to wherever the solution lies.

I personally know the plant manager of one their factories here in Ohio.

Actually I used to live several houses over from him awhile ago.

Never did like the SOB. Lousy neighbor. He would freak out if any adjacent lawn had even like one weed in it. He was afraid his picture perfect lawn would get infested or something.

Anyways.....Good luck.

Good luck.

If you don't get it, learn from it. Odds are you will be doing quite a few of these over the next few weeks.
