I got it because Maximum PC gave it good reviews compared to all the other HSF's. I am wondering if I should have dished out 40 bucks more and got the zalman 9500 LED? What you guys think? I can still change my order...

That issue is about 2 months old.... I would of gotten the Zalman 9500. Alot of HSF's were not included in that article.

Maximum PC

Not a resource to trust. I usually buy it to get the bundled CD if there is something worthwhile on it. The magazine lines my cat-box.

There is nothing wrong with the Hyper6...what you will get is people saying maxPC sucks etc....
They reviewed alot of heatsinks and almost all those they reviewed will do an adequate job of cooling your computer!!

`Actually the sad part of this whole heatsink thing is way too many people believe what any old review says concerning a particular heatsink instead of asking if there is somebody who has used that particular heatsink!!

As the consumer we would know whats best becuase we purchase and use these products!

When discussing a particular heatsink you always get somebody who will say well http://www.Ibelieveeverythingthissitessays.com states that such and such says this about such and such heatsink thus it must be correct??

I do agree that reviews are nice to read but you don`t take just one review and base an argument for or against a particular heatsink...thats foolish....

I have already proven in other threads that if you look hard enough you will find a review somewhere that backs up your argument.

Then you have these people who take one statement out of context or they don`t understand what is being said so they say hmmm....this must be true....lolol

The best review is reviews from people who have owned the product you are looking to buy..

The bottom line is for every computer there are different variables and what works as a good heatsink in your computer might not work as a good heatsink in mine....

As we speak...I have the XP120 and it is getting the same exact idle speed as the the zalman 9500....

In absolute idle....just with computer on and everest reading the temps...they both idle at 27c on my computer!!

Agreed. And the best way to purchase is to ASK FIRST, BUY LATER, not the other way around. 😉

If you got the Hyper 6 for a good price (such as $25 from SVC.com) then it is an okay deal. If you paid more for that, see if you can cancel your order and get something else. If you want a "heatpipe tower" design, look for one that uses at least a 92mm fan. There are nice ones that start at about $35 using a 92mm fan.

are you talking about the hyper 6+ or the old Hyper 6? the 6 PLUS was the one max pc reviewed and got a 10/10 score... NOT the old Hyper 6.

i can't say the Hyper 6+ is the best choice, but it's definitely not a bad choice.

hmmmm......your point...

There was no discussion we all assumed it was the same Hyper6 that was reviewed my Max PC!!

the 6+ isn't $25, but $55. it has a "heatpipe tower" design and a 100mm fan.

Umm that's a good question, I will have to double check with them tomorow. On their site it looks as if its the old hyper 6, but I seen the box they have, and its a rectangle box with the HS and the fan beside it, so I'm guessing it must be the + version since the old one dident have a fan? Or did it? Ill double check tomorow, if it's not the latest version, Ill probably opt for something else.

Thanks for all the responses guys 😀 I like to read reviews but I love peoples own experiences with stuff also, I know that my last HSF the Hyper 48 was an awesome performer keeping my OC'd 3200 winnie @ 30-31 all the time.

Edit: Also this is the shop I buy my stuff from, the prices are in Canadian so don't get excited if you see something high, that's how it is here 🙂 I am open to recommendations, my case is a black TT Armor.

Not hardly!!
I believe the Scythe Ninja as well as the SI 120 would have something to say about that!🙂

Hmm just did a little more research, and the version they have is not the Hyper 6 +, so I am going to see if they can get it, if not Ill look into another local store, or perhaps the TT Sonic Tower? Although I don't know how that compares. What about the zalman 7700? Or the new fatal1ty version of it? (probably wouldnt buy it just cause its fatal1ty lol).

Thanks snowice for making sure 🙂 If it wasnt for you Id have had a old sh!tty HSF. Your cunning ways will indeed make you out to be a good padawan soon 😉.

It looks as if Ill get a 9500 zalman LED. I checked prices between a Hyper 6 + and the 9500 is just 16.50 bucks more. What speeds do you guys run this thing? Because I know there is a low/med/high?

the hyper 6 wasnt in the max pc it was the 6+. i read the artical and what it says is true. i mean i bought it and use it now. i purchased it based on a friend and the mag.

so like i said i use it. it works, would i buy it if i had read more. probably not.

pros: cools well (x2 @2.6 1.5 37idle 49 100%load), nice blue led fan, looks cool.

cons: its a beast, hella heavy (kinda scary, also had to cut out one of my side case fans for it to fit witht he door on), kinda was a pain to put it in cause the mounting bolts are to short.

btw max pc is a good mag. just they cause they gave this cooler a 10-10 doenst mean its the best. they only rate it base on there thoughts no people who use it. i personnaly would have gave it a 8 but that is just me and who am i. lol.

with all said you should read more on what else is out there. i have ready a lot of things about the xp120 and the 9500 both seem to be good. i mean how much better can the other one be???

hope this helps
