OMG. I got cut by the killer fan on Volcano 6Cu+. It was creeping toward the edge of my workbench when I was tinkerling with it. So I tried to catch it when it was about ready to fall off. I grabbed it, but It hit my knuckle on my index finger, then as my reflex moved my hand, the fan got a bite of tip of my pinky.

In slow motion this is what happened... heatsink unit creeps toward the edge of the bench, I got my hand to it a bit too slow and fan goes thup! as it hits my knuckle. Then my reflex removed my knuckle, but it inadvertently pushed my pinky back in the fan. I swear I heard the fan accelerating between these two strikes. All this happened in split second, I didn't have time to say anything until the end. At the end I shouted out OW!!!! mofo'ing bloody fan! ... and more profanity shouting. Mom came into check on me and I had to answer hundreds of questions as to what I was screaming about and all... Painful and embarassing... Turn off those 7000RPM or 8000RPM screamer before you work near it. It may not get ya finger, but it may get ya knuckle, elbow or other unexpected places. Feel the edge tip of a fan blade on a 7000RPM 60mm fan. Pretty sharp isn't it? My Thermaltake 6Cu+ was pretty sharp. A bit of number crunchin shows that tip of fan blade has a velocity of 72km/h(45.5mph) for 7Krpm fan or 83km/h(51.8mph) for 8Krpm fan. No wonder it hurts duh!!

ouch!!!

haha. :) j/k sorry you hurt yourself. you should always have those fans unplugged anytime you work with them, otherwise use a fan guard.

Try putting your finger in a running one. At least the one I hit was only a crappy 60 mm one.

Definitely. I turn on my computer and my dad gets nostalgic from his days on the aircraft carriers...

I accidentially got my ring finger into one of those 8000rpm delta beasts. It took a piece of skin about the size of a dime off the tip of my finger (basically the whole pad of my finger). Had that guy bandaged for about 4 days. Got fan guards for all my fans that night - and smashed up that delta thingy with a hammer (it was on it's way out anyways - waaaaayyy to loud). Running all panaflow H1A's now w/ fan guards/filters - much nicer :).

fan cuts hurt, regardless of if it's a 7000rpm or not, i got taken out by a little fan once....just holding it, slipped ...and my reflexes went to catch it....bad move....three tips of my fingers ate it, heh, little cm long cuts, but still hurt and bled quite a bit
