While you never expressly said XBOX, I just assumed that given both the PS2 and XBox being priced at $300, both were being talked about.

Now, I think we have many of the same views. You made fine points, and I'll acknowledge that. But, you can't tell me that the ethernet port and harddrive shouldn't be considered. First, online gaming with no additional costs for hardware. Also, the harddrive is offered as a replacement to memory cards (which I tend to loose) and also to hold mp3 and data cache. Those are both things that improve games.

Still, no one has played the final XBOX releases, so no one knows whether Nintendo or XBOX has the best game play or controls. No one knows which games are going to be better.

Hey...again, I DIDN'T say not to consider any of the extra features...I DID say to consider them exactly as that-extra features. I WANT people to make comparisons based on the gaming and the gameplay, not stupid stuff, like "GC is purple=kiddy" or XBox is too big=G@Y) That's all.

EXACTLY! Does having an ethernet port somehow instantly make the games more enjoyable? Does it somehow make the hardware more powerfull? No. GameCube has the serial port expansion for Ethernet, but just because it's not built in all of a sudden the games are inferior?! I guess that because you have to buy a DVD remote for the X-Box to watch DVDs that that make the Panasonic GameCube a superior game machine because it can play DVDs out of the box? For one thing, I played net games on my SNES X-Band flawlessly with 28.8k dialup, & that didn't make PlayStation "inferior." (Though the SNES had MUCH better games to this day)

If you don't know what you want & you base your purchasing decision on dumb "extras" then you are OBVIOUSLY a g@y gamer or DON'T CARE about gaming at all.

Yes, I'm a Big-N fanboy, but at least I know what I want & I don't base it on what shape the port on the back is.

Oh yeah, & my opinion is actually from having PLAYED BOTH consoles. My local EB has an X-Box & I've gone through all the demonstrations plus (as mentioned above) I own a GameCube.
