that must be the case. It would be better if you post pics of the beck end of the PC and the monitor connector, so we can see what they actually are.
 
The BFG GeForce 6800GT isn't dual DVI.

And of course, did you try flipping the connector upside and plugging it in? 😛

Yes, flip that thing around!

Also check for bent pins, and of course, make sure it's not the (usually white) DVI port you are plugging it into, but the (usually blue) analog VGA connector.
 
Typhoon, are the plugs in the back of your case white, or blue? Is the plug at the end of the monitor cable white or blue?

in general white is DVI, blue VGA. need an adapter to connect the two.
