I calculated it out for axiontech.com and i can get a ecs board, case, flopy/cd, 128ram, and tbird 900 for 300 with shipping. Anyone find better? i need the stuff to come from one place only.

OK <cracks knuckles>

www.amamax.com

PCChips M817LMR (Socket A w/video, sound, and LAN) - $79
T-bird 900MHz - $74
52X Delta CD-ROM - $29
128MB Micron PC100 - $17
InWin S500 case, 250W ATX - $55
Mitsumi floppy - $14
Cooler Master DP5-5G11 HS - $13

You didn't mention keyboard, mouse, or hard drive . . . already got one? If not . . .

Seagate ST340823A 40.0 GB 5400 RPM IDE Hard Drive - $103
Microsoft Intellimouse - $15
Mitsumi PS/2 Keyboard - $9

Wihtout the HD, you're looking at about $280, so yeah, it would be about 300 shipped. Call it 450 if you needed the hard drive, keyboard, and mouse.

Go to fry's in san jose, campbell, palo alto, fremont, or sunnyvale. In saturdays paper they have a BYO system for 249.
AMD athlon 1.3Ghz boxed cpu
VIA KLE133 chipset socket A interface
built in 2d/3d video
2 pci, 1 ISA, 1 AMR slots
4 5.25 bays
2 internal 3.5 bays
1.44 floppy drive
56k modem
3d sound w/ wavetable
ethernet card
uDMA 100 hardrive controller
*just install the cpu, your drives and memory to build your own system.

then add 512 pc133 sdram for 42 bux also at frys

249
+42
= 291

What you picked sounds good... but if it was me I'd exchange something on getting some more RAM!!

If you were to buy a Duron 800 for example and 256 RAM instead of 128.. It'd be faster than having a 900 Athlon and 128 RAM.

so.. I say get a Duron 800,850 and some more RAM (price is god-awfully low)... it's totally worth it over getting a T-Bird and less RAM..

btc 52x on clearence for 24.90 plus it includes cdXpress which supposedly makes it perform like an 80x drive.
