Hi

I'm sending a motherboard back for RMA because it died on me and my hand went and slipped and my nail bent 2 of the socket pins, i'm now worried that when the recieve it they might use it as an excuse to not go through with replacing the already very dead motherboard has anyone had any experience with this kind of problem claiming warranty, I did this while replacing the sockets plastic cover :(

What made it dead before this happened was continuous power cycling then complete failure were the pc would not power up. I tested the processor in another computer I then tried different ram combinations, tried another power supply even reset the CMOS one of the first things i did, it started doing this after a bad overclock setting I think I fried it. Then during replacing the socket cover my nail bent two of the pins, im too scared to try to fix that incase I snap them completely off apart from my obvious mistakes I think the pins in motherboard design to be pretty shit.

Have you sent it back yet? If not, take ether a pin or extremely small headed screwdriver and slowly lift the bent pins back up. They won't break off as long as you're careful. And yes if they receive it with bent pins, odds are good they won't take it.

I haven't sent it back yet, I took your advice and did fix the pins but using a small sewing needle, the pins are straight but the metal below it still looks kind of off, but they shouldn't say anything about it because the pins are now fine and I put a cpu in to straighten it out a bit further. I can't send it back until 5 january because the department is closed for christmas so I'm stuck with my laptop that can't play any games but it's better than nothing.
Thanks.
