I get an error message that says, "Floppy Disk Fail (40)"

Getting that message after the mobo detects the HDD's and CD. It access the floppy, the light turns on, I hear it accessing for 2 seconds and then getting that message.

I tried changing Floppy drive!
I am sure the cables are set up properly (I've palyed with that quite a while)

I am using ASUS A7V Revision 1.04 BIOS 1006 Final.

I even tried flashing to older BIOS versions, no help.

Is there anywhere in the BIOS where I can enable or disable the floppy controller?!
Is it possible the motherboard is screwed up? Even that as I said It does try accessing the floppy!

I'd appriciate your help.

It should be in the standard bios setup area, where you select your hard drives and set the date and stuff.

did you actually try reversing the floppy cable at the floppy end?
the red strip on the cable doesn't always go next to the power connector with all floppies!
