I would hate to change my email address. I really like it (my first name @ my last name .org), is there a way I can stop getting all this spam email? I must have used it to sign up for something or another and got added to a bunch of lists. Can I change hosts or will that not do anything?

I have filters set up, but they seem to do more harm then good.

If you're only getting 15 a day, I'm jealous. I have about 100 a day come through. Luckily my email guard catches 99% of them. But damn... 15 aint worth complaining about!

I get ZERO! Thanks to gmail ^_^

Well technically I do get spam but it is automatically routed to a folder called "Spam" that I never look at...

Lately i've been looking at the headers of some of the spam to look for common things, & then setting up rules on my ISPs webmail. That's working but i find i need to continually update the rules.
What does get thru to my computer K9 catches though.

My school e-mail never gets any Junk mail...EVER.

However....my hotmail is averaging aroun 15 or so a day, and it seems like its just picking up again, and i'm starting to get more and more :disgust:

My spam is managable nowadays (maybe 1/2 dozen a day, tops, probably half that on average). Even so, I got no spam for a year or more when I did change my email address around 3-4 years ago. My ISP has filtering that gets rid of ~99% (guessing) and my Mailwasher gets rid of a lot more, and what it is seeing for the 2nd time, I don't see at all (the way I have it set up). It appears that there are filtering agencies or programs that are close to 100% effective. I wonder if they are over zealous. I do look at all my spam (stuff that gets past my ISP and Mailwasher) because if I let Mailwasher delete it before I download it, the next time I won't have the opportunity to intercept it - it will be kept from my view and deleted. Thus, I often see things in my list that Mailwasher assumes is spam (the first time it's sent to me) that aren't spam at all. When that happens, I flag it as Friend.

I have a several emails I check everyday. Each one I use for different purposes, a few I never list anywhere other than to my friends. This way I minimize the spam

So far, I've found it too much trouble to check more than one email address on anything remotely resembling a regular basis.

You only get 15 spam e-mails per day? Is that total, or ones that make it through your filter and into your inbox? Either way, if you really want to understand what suffering is... sign up for Hotmail. It's more likely to put real e-mail in your spam box than it is to put spam in there.

Get a spam filter, or just try to individually opt-out of all the stuff you're getting. Of course, that could blow up in your face, but what's life if not risk?
