No cell phone will get any kind of reception inside my house. If you stand beside a glass door, you'll get 2 bars. The second you step outside, full signal.

What could be causing this, and can you think of any possible solutions?

If it's a newer house and they used a radiant barrier behind the siding and under the roofing that would do it. There is no fix, but on the bright side you won't be needing a tinfoil hat.

Are you unable to make calls when you're inside the house? The ability to get a call through and the number of bars are unrelated. Seriously.

I have the same problem in my house. Stucco, which means the entire body of the house is wrapped in chicken wire...must make a good signal reflector or something...;) I don't think there's a metallic radiant barrier under the stucco, just the standard tarpaper over plywood and fiberglass insulation under that...but I could be wrong. (I haven't had the walls apart except to cut a hole for a doggy-door...and there was nothing else in that section.)

Outside I can get decent reception, but not inside.

Our whole neighborhood is in a black-hole for cell reception anyway...we are within a half-mile of one tower, but it apparently isn't the one for my provider...don't have to drive very far to get excellent reception though. maybe...half a mile...

Sometimes I can get a call through, but I usually get "Signal Faded" and the call drops within a few seconds.

Sweet, can they start building schools and colleges like this? It might finally put an end to the damn hellspawned devices constantly going off during class. Even after one cellphone goes off during class, the rest of the morons don't think to check their own phones, so another one will wind up going off. Do the things administer heroin through the earpiece or keypad? People can't seem to put the things down for more than a few minutes.

Now get off my goddamn lawn!!!!

Are you on Sprint/T-Mobile? You could try out their home VoIP soulutions.

Or, you could buy one of those antennae that help extend cellphone signal into the house. It'll involve running wires from an outside antenna to an interior location.

I have a friend who lives in a stucco house. They have wireless extenders all over the place and there are still areas of the house where the signal is too weak.

(I'm talking about 802.11 wireless).

They know you have no friends so they put your phone in 'green mode' to save the environment.

If you are out and about they turn it back on for you in case you have an emergency.

If your wireless network works ok in the house, you might try using a T-Mobile UMA-equipped phone. You don't need to pay for their "unlimited" service if you don't mind using your cell minutes. It will connect through your router and use your minutes when you make a call.

I am a big fan of my T-mobile phone for that feature alone.

I live in a stucco house and even get full reception in the basement. However, we do have a rather large abundance of windows on the back side.
