I get a long continuous beep on my computer after 20 mins of use

It's signifcantly warmer than it should be on top; I've fixed this before by clearing out dust and debris but its not alleviating the situation this time. There shouldn't be any strain on the computer as I'm only using it to brose internet/word processing...suggestions?

Uh....specs please? Need more info before we can tell you a solution (or even tell you what's causing the problem in this case...).

It's a old computer from around 2001; 800 mz, and all the applications I'm using date back to 2000. The powersupply was the main emmiter of heat when I looked inside.

Hmm...is it typical for computers to crap out eventally with time?

It might be some type of temperature warning, try to remove the dust from all the fans and the PSU, that might fix it. Most motherboards give off warning sounds when the temp gets to high or a fan rotates too slow, whcih can be caused by aging fans or just dust.
