I gave up giving up caffeine.

I was off caffeine for two months. Every morning I would wake up and feel extremely tired. I would feel sick for the first hour of being awake and would constantly fall asleep in the morning. I even started going to bed earlier, getting 8-9 hours of sleep every night. I still felt horrible and was always tired.

Now, a week after being back on caffeine, I get six hours of sleep. I wake up and feel great. I'm productive again. I can actually focus.

Yay caffeine.

I love caffeine so much I'd take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant!

I am in the same situation like you. After a week of drinking coffee and then stop, I would wake up tired and get huge headaches at the end of the day.

When you exercise, eat right, and get enough sleep, you'd be surprised how much energy you have throughout the day. Either way, I still drink half a pot a day :D

Withdrawal. It'll be gone if you can keep up for couple weeks.

I gave it up for two months. I figured the withdrawal would be over by then. Now to be fair, I still drank a cup or two of green tea during the day, but that doesn't contain too much caffeine.

Why do people give it up? One week it's bad for you, and the next week they say it's good for you.

If I work out and eat healthy, why shouldn't I be able to enjoy a nice latte?

The only time I ever drink caffiene (or soda in general) is in that last minute cram-session test preparation. I'll drink a rockstar and focus and get the work done. This only happens once a week tops, and it makes studying suck less and has a great placebo effect as well I think.

Heh. Coffee is GREAT for me! I ran out yesterday and am going to the grocery store because of it. I've been needing to go get groceries for days, but have been putting if off. I NEED my coffee, though, so off I go!

There are 4 conditions under which I'll drink caffeine:

1. All-nighter

2. Out with friends

3. Take some Monster and pretend it's beer, act slightly drunk to scare the crap out of my RA right when the my hall director is walking by :p

4. If it comes with the package (ie hot chocolate)

Otherwise I pretty much drink water and Rooibos exclusively.

Plus, there was that article that coffee drinkers had less chances of getting liver diseases... Yay coffee!

I did the same thing, I gave it up for about 1.5 months. For the entire 1.5 months I felt miserable in the morning and was tired all day. It was a struggle to make it through the day if I didn't take a nap around noon. Now I'm back to my morning coffee and I feel great and can focus in the morning, and I feel great all day. Caffeine is awesome :)

I had neck problems for years, which gave me a tension headache by the end of the day.

Then one morning during tax season, I had half a cup of coffee because I was more tired than usual. The rest of the week I drank coffee. By the end of the week, I realized my neck wasn't hurting anymore.

I've been drinking coffee for years since then - if I stop, by the 2nd mid-day my neck stiffens up and I get a headache.

I just figured that humans evolved without caffeine and thus it wasn't something that our bodies needed, but now I'm saying screw that.

 Holy ****! The same thing happens to me. My neck will hurt during the day and when it's time to go home I end up with a splitting tension headache when I don't drink coffee. I was beginning to think I was the only one :)

haha! I drink the cheap stuff they give out for free at work. I'm talking starbucks and Mugsys here. Tastes like gasoline if taken straight. It's amazing what a little sugar and two creamers will do for it. :p
