I gained 5 lbs in 1 month. Now I'm hungry when I go back to my old ways (48 grams of protein/day)

i'm 5'9", 140 lbs and have a small beer belly that got bigger over the last month. all the 5lbs went straight to my stomach. i also stopped excercising (arobics 2x/week) cause i've been socializing more.

for the past month i've been going to bbq's on weekends and over eating. and going out w/friends during the week and eating/drinking more than usual.

according to my nutritionlist i saw years ago, @140lbs i only need 48grams of protein/day.

normally, i have:
i have a few nuts for breakfast (almonds, peacans, walnuts)= 6 grams
lunch = 4 oz of meat (4 slices of turkey/ham/salami/balonga/etc) @ 1 oz of meat = 6 grams => 24 grams
dinner = 2 slices of meat (2 oz) = 12 grams, salad (2 grams) and 1/2 bag (1/2lb) of veggies (brocolli, peas, carrots) = 4 grams

total 6+24+12+2+4 = 48, plus a couple of glasses of orange juice, and a glass of milk = more than what i need, thus i can't get rid of my belly.

anyway, it's now 9pm and i'm starving when i went back to the above ways.

sigh...sooooo easy to gain weight, so uncomforable to lose it.

You, my friend, eat like a little bird. Eat like a MAN. Unless you're totally inactive, you'll top out somewhere around 200. Once you hit that ceiling, start lifting and turn that weight into badass weight. Stringy little SOB.

I ate 5 fig newtons for breakfast - in a rush
ice coffee
large chicken tender sandwich (deep fried chicken, mmm)
Uhhh...big ol' plate of pasta with 5 meatballs
some beets, or beats, however you spell um, they're purple and yummy.

Oh, and a bag of M&Ms and a bag of sun chips at my lil bro's hockey while i waited.

Haven't had dessert yet! gasp! better run down and get some, not after some ham though.

Anyhow, today was light eating for me. I'm like 6'1", 190lbs. hey, i may be fat but i'm not getting fatter and at least I get to enjoy myself and eat yummy things.

Mmmmm
ham ;)

And so it begins. With age comes weight for most of America. Don't fight it, JEDI. The dark side is strong.

Exercise and don't worry about eating. If you exercise right you won't have to.

How do you mean right? To curb my appetite, when left unchecked, I'd need to do 1-2 hours cardio a day plus weights.

your right, not much of a gut. but no matter how hard i tried, i could not get a 6-pack. then i went down to 48grams protein/day and did cardio 2x/week. i started losing the fat in my stomach and got 2 of the 6 cubes.

then i moved for a new job and stopped the cardio. i maintained the shape i was in just by my diet. then i started eating like a pig, and gained 5 pounds. now hopefully if i go back to my old way of eating, i'll lose the 5 pounds and stay at the weight (and shape).

Uh, you can't turn "weight" into "bad-ass weight". You cannot turn fat into muscle.

Jedi- You can't group all meats together. Bologna (which I wouldn't even consider a freakin meat) is going to have less protein per wt. than chicken.

What about muscle training?
Losing the fat on your belly is only half the battle, start those crunches or whatever suits you.

Yes, but its sooo much more fun to work out when you're a fatass.

Time for some munchies...

It's amazing to me how many people do not understand the concept of proper diet, excercise and lifting weights. If you don't burn as much as you take in you will gain weight. If you aren't lifting weights that weight you gain will most likely be fat. If you burn more calories than you take in, you will lose weight, however you may be losing muscle along with fat if you aren't lifting and exercising.

i think we all realize that, it's just that most of us don't care enough to count every stupid calorie or whatever goes into our body
