WiFi introduces tons of latency, it's unreliable and susceptible to interference. I don't live in florida and I know how to configure wifi.
Look, if WiFi is so great then why is it that you can't run a file server on it?
It is a half duplex connection, sending large files over half duplex will take forever, it has nothing to do with latency. This is the same reason why you don't run a file server over your cable internet connection, it is half duplex, it can either send or receive, not both. You will have no noticeable increase in latency from using wifi, unless you are doing something wrong/ you have really crappy equipment.
Ever WiFi router I have ever had drops the connection every few hours. This is annoying enough for me that I stick to wired.

I played CS 1.6 on a wireless network that accessed the internet by bridging a dial-up connection to a non-wireless hub which in turn was connected to a wireless adapter.
I had a steady ping around 100 and I learned to deal with it.
The only difference a ping above roughtly 150ms makes is if your dumb ass runs straight into gun fire going for the spray and pray approach while rushing someone.
Other than that, you just have to learn that headshots require the slightest bit more leading of your shots.
Ping excuses are for people who can't deal with losing... also known as "whiners" or "sore losers".

Shens, never heard of a ping of 100 on dialup. My best ping I've ever gotten was IIRC 150 but overall was 200 ping on dialup..

Not that it matters, but the Pre-N routers theoretically get up to 108Mbps, just higher than the average 100Mbps wired LANs. Not that you'd ever get 108Mbps on wireless, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

My roommates and I used to play CS:S on pub servers through our one wi-fi router. We were all using wireless. With four people connected, we would get about 40-60ms pings on good days. There were tons of other wireless networks in our complex too. I could probably pick up about 10 from my desk and if I moved out into the living room, I could pick up a couple others.
