I was updating the firware, which I have done before, and for some odd-ball reason it went hay wire...now I cannot access it.

Yesterday I got a little recovery window at the address 192.168.2.1 but I had to disconnect the cable to use the net...

Now I can't get it back again...what do I do?

Have you tried resetting the router to its factory defaults? Don't know about the SMC, but on my netgear there is a tiny button you can press and hold in and it will reset. Make sure you remember whatever settings you had made.

I fixed it:

For future reference for anyone who has my dumb luck, or at lest in this case I did:

For some reason when the firmware update process fails, DHCP really screws up.

You have to set your pc to a static ip address in the braket of ips that you once had on it. Make sure to force your host to it as a gateway...will not work automatically like ususal in this case...

THat's it...and no, the reset button did not work..my password was still in use too despite using the reset button many times...go figure

Thanks for the help
