I found this Maxtor utilty that lets you speed up the seeks.

This maxtor utility lets you speed up seeks times of late model maxtors in exchange for louder seeks. The utility is called setacm.exe, it can be found on maxtor's utility download page.

Has anybody tried this yet? How much faster does it get? How much louder does it get?

Uhh i just did it, it screwed up all the links on my desktop, Said the program CAN'T be found, Where in fact it was @ the exact same spot.. I set it to fast, now i set it back to quiet, and its fine.
