I found the @sshole who broke into my car.. now what?

I left my doors unlocked one day and i parked behind my appartment in an alley and I went to my home and then came down the next morning and all the things that weren't stationary were gone (air freshener, portable cd player, papers, and cds). I remembered the guys car that was parked parallel to me and he was working on his car. I haven't seen him for about 2 monthes. I see his car today parked in the same place that was parallel to mine. To my surprise I see my air freshener in there on his dash (this is a distinctive air freshener that i only seen on some cars that you can only get imported from japan). His car is a plymoth 60s-70s.

Anyways I see his doors and unlocked, I make my move. Go in the car and get my air freshener and i look for my other belongings. As I look in the backseet there is a blanket and pillows and the car has a horrible stench (this dude is a bumb). I forgot to check the trunk (my bad). So anyways thats basically all I can do. If I called the cops they really cant do anything except question him, theres no proof. But I know he did it and he knows it too. I wanted to put a rotten egg in there or piss on his seat or something but I wouldn't want someone to do that to my vechile and I think he might see the connection and mess with my car.

beat the sh!t out of him, or turn him in to the police, or steal his car and drive it into a river (make sure you aren't in the car though), and make sure that you are 100% sure it was him.
