When I was putting away my Xmas decorations the other day, I found an old Radeon 7200. Is it still good for anything other than documents, or surfing the net? Can I still find drivers?

It'd be worse than modern integrated graphics. It's a DX7 card (no pixel/vertex shader capability).

no HDCP either. I have a 7200 vivo in my old p4 box. Does your basic 2d stuff. No vista drivers just xp and lower.

Yes, its pci. I have a 975x mobo laying around. I also found an old 350watt power supply up there too. I might pick up a cheap hd and chip and see if I can get it going. The kids might be able to play pogo with it. might be a fun legacy box too.

Pictures would be all you could get, if you could even find a way to get it running. Slideshow, at best...

It wouldn't run at all unless you made some major modifications to the game itself. Like I said before, the 7200 has no shader capability, and Crysis requires SM2+.

That just reminded me of Doom 3 running on a Voodoo2.

Keep it.

A working PCI video card is quite useful for troubleshooting purposes.

i just got a couple old nVidia cards out of some old builds this weekend!

Riva TNT 2 - 64
[PCI, the old style with the two ways to screw it to the MB or the case; it replaces my SIS 8MB card that was used to troubleshoot many a build]

and

a GeForce3 Ti
[AGP of course and it reminds me of the days of my Radeon 8500-128MB :p]

they look like toys compared to todays videocard; the TNT has no VGA fan
- i am using the Geforce3 in my new back-up 'net machine i traded my 2.8 Ghz CeleronD-powered emachine for]
[P4 2.26B/BX MB/Geforce3-Ti/1GB PC3200/Audigy2 ZS/4.1 speakers/Lian Li Brushed aluminum case & Antec 300w PS/Acer 14x9 LCD/WinXP Pro]
--it's almost like it's '04 again .. the good old days
