There were like 20 of those monitors all dumped in the trashcan...
most of them were in pretty bad shape (shattered)
but the one I took home looked very good, with few scratches on the frame.

but they cut the DC powercable and the Monitor cable...
Monitor cable I could replace.

But is there anyway I could get another DC powercable that plugs into this monitor?
can anyone gimme a phone# or link?

model: IBM 9495-AW1

here I am 5hrs later.

after a full day of calling this number, then transfered to that number, than asked to call another number.
I decided to visit the stores to see if they could help me get the cables or at least try the monitor out.
well, all the IBM CSRs were tremendously polite.... BUT, definately not helpful as they say they don't know anything and can't do anything since it's not part of their channel for replacement parts. They even have the same monitor sitting on display, but those CSRs said they weren't allowed to take off the backplate to try the cables on my monitor.

then I tried their warehouse... first one didn't even know those parts exist and told me they don't even see the product serial numbers I asked for.
second warehouse was better, they had the cables in stock but then it costs $99.50 for a freakin AC/DC converter!!! + mandatory $10 shipping handling charge...

so for the last hour, I've been calling all the IBM authorized stores and found only one that's been able to help. now I'm only paying $75 for 2 freakin cables!!! cheap cables for that matter!!!

IBM SUCKS!

LOL, you're complaining about paying $100 or $75 (it wasn't really clear) to fix a few hundred dollar LCD that you found for free in a trashcan?! :p

Well, in any event, nice find.

just what trash can did u find these in??

and, how often do u search trash cans?..i'm wondering...

because if that's the kinda stuff people are throwing out nowadays, i've found a new job.

wouldn't u assume the monitor broken being that it was in the trash?

and why woudln't they send it in for warranty?...how could "20" of them go bad?...and there be no warranty on them all...and they're all irreparable?

that's what I would think too...

but my uncle took the 22" trinitron with no stand and it's workin like a charm!!! no problems at all (except for that stand).

edit: and it was in the same garbage bin :)

I have a friend that worked for an appliance delivery service for a while. Apparently they had a large warehouse, and got a lot of "Scratch and dent" stuff from retail chains in the area. They'd try and sell the stuff, but it was so cheap for them to get in the first place, that it really wasn't worth the effort. So the stuff was sold for parts. But first, it had to be disabled, so my buddy said they'd take stuff out behind the warehouse and smash vital parts with a sledgehammer. 27" TV's were especially fun, as were refridgerators. The more useful parts were saved for the guy who bought the load of stuff, everything else was sent to the landfill. This sounds like one of those cases.

So as long as it wasn't tossed into the trashcan too violently, you may have a fully functional LCD on your hands. Lucky bastard ;)
