I formatted my usb mp3 flash drive in winxp...

...using winxp's own formatting utility. So right now I can still use it as a USB flash drive but it won't play the mp3 files anymore.

Yes, that was a very stupid thing to do, I admit.

It is the Unitech Duex MP-304, and I wonder if there's a tool out there that would let me restore the player to its original state.

I tried dBpowerAMP and also Cendyne's driver and software for its "Gruvstick" player and neither works. dBpowerAMP doesnt do anything at all and Cendyne's software wouldn't let me format in the first place.

I appreciate any attempt to help.

Yeah those drives will only work as FAT32 I believe.

My Archos jukebox....which is a hard drive based MP3 player but similar functionality...you could get updated firmware which it installed as a hidden file on the drive, perhaps you have a similar option?
