Call credit card company.

file dispute.

done.

QFT. If you have your receipt, which you should, this is a no-brainer. If you threw out the receipt, thats your fault.

Businesses have to show proof that the charge was authorized.

I used to work in bookkeeping, and whenever there was a chargeback, this was always the case. If we didn't have proof, then the amount was refunded to the customer.

I'd rather lose $5 than allow a sh1tty waitress to reward herself.. It's a principle thing. Losing $5 doesn't bother me near as much as a waitress that thinks she can suck and still get rewarded.

She already got paid out from Hooters, next time sign the receipt. $5 lesson learned

Well, the bigger issue is that there's some waitress out there forging tips onto receipts.

Exactly. OP didn't authorize the charge/amount.

Call CC company, say "I didn't authorize this charge" and they will nail hooters a new one.

The OP should stake out the Hooters for the waitress that ripped him off. Find out the days she works regularly. Continue staking out for the next six months. Go in and make sure you get the same waitress. When it comes time to sign the bill, don't leave a tip, but sign the bill. 27% / 2 = 13.5%

My friends and I had some wings and beer at Hooters. My girlfriend and my bill came to $18.34. Our waitress was an idiot and took forever to get us a pitcher of beer (she brought it out when we got the wings). Oh ya.. she let my wings set up on the counter while she talked and joked with some dude by the kitchen (in plain sight)..

So naturally, I'm ready to freakin' leave (we didn't get a 2nd or 3rd pitcher cause' she sucked) and I hand her my card before I get the check. She comes back with an $18.34 check (fair) and I grab my card and run, forgetting to sign.

It's been two weeks since.. and the total is $23.34 that Hooters is charging me. What a freakin' rip. My girlfriend told me (she's worked in food service her whole life) that usually it's policy to only charge the receipt amount when people forget to sign it..

God.. I would've given the girl 10%.. but 27%? That fvcking pisses me off. I've never had such a horrible waitress at Hooters before.
Hooter's food sucks.

COuple of guys at work went out of town and stopped at a hooters along the interstate. Waitress gave herself a $10.00 tip for a ~$12.00 tab.
He never even called and complained about it.

That is why I always put "cash" in the tip spot now if I am giving a cash tip.

I usually just put a line threw that tip section and always have TOTAL about written.

Infact every place I go to that has their CC machines setup for tips have 3 lines.
Purchase
Tip
Total
ALWAYS FILL OUT THE TOTAL!
Always get the customer copy of the CC recipt.
Problem avoided.

Bullsh!t. It's credit card fraud.

And she didn't deserve a tip for poor service. That's what tipping is all about. If you tip bad service, you can expect bad service.

Its $1.50-$2 at best, not $5.

$3 tip would be 16%, $3.50 would be 19% tip. Considering that the OP didn't sign the receipt, which is considered *stealing* since he did not authorize a dime and did not pay any other way, he got off light.

Quit whining about it...if the OP wanted to stiff her, he should have no more than the amount of alcohol in which he could still think clearly enough to sign the damn tab for the bill, and not tip her at all.

Lets face it, the real issue here is that the OP can't handle his liquor.
