Ever dig up an old game and fall in love with it all over again and you're just rockin' your way through it?

Yeah? Me too. :)

You get SO far into the level...and you're still rockin'...blastin' away, blowin' shiit up, just killin' it!

Yeah? Me too. :)

Then, you do something stupid and get killed? And then find out that you NEVER SAVED as you went?

Yeah? Me too. :brokenheart::(

Damn, I feel stupid.

IGI-2.

Something none of you have ever played, most probably. :)

IMO, one of the best "unknown games" out there. Some levels are quite difficult; there's no "skill level" choice, but the enemies aim better and better with each passing level.

Once you get into China, they don't miss. :Q

Over the years I've gotten better at saving as I go, you have the power go out or crappy machines reboot and if it's important you learn your lesson

Though I did accidentally overwrite the wrong save on my xbox a while ago, replaced a "my player" that I had been working on for 2 years with a brand new one. Ugh.

:sneaky: Not page 221, but it'll do. :whiste:

I *never* save when I'm breezing through my favorite old games: Super Mario Bros. 3, Ninja Gaiden, Batman (all NES 8-bit).

Probably because there's no save feature in those games.

:hmm:

I was delighted to find my copy of Link to The Past on the SNES still has a working battery back up. It even still had my saves from two decades ago. ^_^ The manual says it lasts 5 years, but I guess Nintendo was definitely low balling it. Their shit lasts.

The first one I thought was a lot harder, and you couldn't do in mission saves.. nothing like getting all the way to the end of the level and getting killed, just so you can do the entire thing again

Anyone remember the NES where you could not save? You turn the unit off, and your Mario game is gone. Next time you play, you start from the beginning again. :D

Then they came out with the SNES and you could save!

Actually think there were a few NES games that had a save feature in them. I recall excite bike let you save custom maps.

You should try this obscure NES game called The Legend Of Zelda. o_O

Also, I guess you forgot passwords?

LOL! And just last night we were talking about bringing back dead threads. Nice job digging this one up AND referencing my comment from last night, notposting. You get 4 Internet Cool Points for this one.

True, but you could have 8 -10 weapons in the inventory. That never happened in the second one thankfully. I liked both of them.

The best part is that the conversation just started up again with no one noticing the earlier post dates...to be fair I usually don't until some long lost poster is involved or the discussion takes a turn that seems decidedly in the past. :D

This just happened to me in Super Metroid. Got X-Ray vision without having the grappling hook and didn't have enough energy to make it back across the spiked floors. FML :(

Yep, both Zelda's had a battery backed save. Final Fantasy did to IIRC.

Speaking of old games, if you play on emulators the worst is accidentally selecting load state instead of save state. I've lost a lot of progress mindlessly doing that.

Alternatively, it really sucks when you hit Save State instead of Load State at certain times. Had that happen to me while I was constantly reloading a FFIV save state trying to get a pink tail to drop from pink puffs. :(
