Currently imaging the hard drive from a Macintosh SE to my PowerBook via LocalTalk/PhoneNet. 230kbps!!! Gonna take over an hour to transfer 40MB of data. LOL.

Damn kids these days don't know how good they have it, with their fancy networks floating in the air. :colbert:

no kidding right

i'm doing a linux pxeboot install/reimage right now over my 100mbps network and i feel like i'm slacking nowdays not doing over gBps.... or better let link aggragation and optical stuff

My parents basement is wired for PhoneNet. They installed it when they used to run their business down there. I don't remember it being slow but mind you it was only being used to transfer Word and Excel files.

That's the cool thing about it - anywhere in the home there's a phone jack, you can connect the computer to the network. Sure made things a lot simpler than they are today.

i used to run a tandy trs80 network and it used 1500 baud network cards. the 'server' was another trs80 with cassette.. basically loading from cassette tapes to another slow ass machine, yeah it was piss ass slow
