I forgot how much that can hurt!

I've noticed in the last few years, nothing really hurts. I mean you cut your finger or bang your funny bone, but it doesn't really hurt, right? No injury that I have incurred in the last few years has made me curl up in a ball from pain....until....

I just decided that I needed to get something from the living room. I know this place very well in the dark, but I somehow bashed my shin (just on the inside of the ridge) on the corner of the coffee table and OMG, that hurts. It formed a nice goose egg within a minute of the collision.

I'm laying in bed right now with a bag of frozen corn over the goose egg. My shin hurts all the way down to the ankle.

Moral of the story: Damn that hurt! and turn on the lights.

edit to correct spelling

You misspelled both pain killers somehow...
Throw out the corn when you're done, canned corn tastes much better

Skimmed through the thread, and saw "frozen corn over the goose egg."

Thought this was going to be an amusing story about nut-based injuries. Alas, twas just a hit on a bone of a completely unrelated area.

The stuff scattered about the floor of my apartment is its own burglar trap. Walking in here with the lights out will likely kill you quickly, if you're lucky.

Is there a lot of salt in there though?

What's the $/lb of canned vs frozen? I might need to check that out sometime.

Speaking of substitutes for ice to treat injuries, after getting a bloody nose as a kid, the nurse told me to put a coin against the bridge of my nose. Sure it was cold, but only for 5 seconds and after that it didn't do much. If it was only for the pressure I could have just used my finger...

I just ate the rest of my frozen peas for dinner, hence corn. It was corn or broccoli...

See, vegetables have a use!

Same here. Between PCI slot covers, case panels, motherboards, and other shit on the floor, anyone who isn't familiar with the apartment is going to bleed out their foot and die.

I had to upgrade to frozen strawberries. The corn was thawing too fast. I ended up taking a shot of Tito's Handmade Vodka and an Aleve.

Oh those darkened room collisions. I was heading into the kitchen as a teenager, and somebody had the highchair out there. it was one of those with a really wide stable stance, and I split my little toe and the next toe around the leg at a fairly good speed. It cracked open and bled, and after a great deal of hopping around I deposited that thing on the back porch. At a fairly good speed!

no different than ice. I scalded the everloving hell out of my hand a few weeks back by stupidly grabbing the handle of a pan that had been fired in the oven at 500f (searing steak ftmfw). yeah, a branding iron.

I clutched a bag of frozen gyoza for the next hour or so while watching Iron Man. worked like a charm. prevented the deep burn/scar.

as for the OP, aleve definitely. Whiskey wears off too fast. However, if it's an open wound, Whiskey doubles as a disinfectant ;) (but it also thins the blood, so is the last thing you want when bleeding heavily....)
