If you liked the FC demo, you'll love the game. In fact, that's probably one of the poorest levels in the entire game. It gets much much better, and spookier!

I don't know Thief 3 at all, can't speak to it.

yea that's what I did. Indoor trigens, once identified are easy... just grenade em. outdoors, trigens are insane.

what guns did you all use most often.
i use:
pistol
M-16 (mostly)
Mac-11
Rocket launcher
anything better?

To be honest, I made it through the entire game without firing the pistol except for a couple situations where I had exhausted all my other ammo. My weapon of choice for the first 1/4 of the game was the M4 but it didn't penetrate armor very well and wasn't great from long range. Once I got ahold of the AG36, it carried me through 90% of the game. You can take out mercenaries from a LONG way off with it and it doesn't take but a headshot or two. Of course, once I reached the the indoor trigen levels, the shotgun was a must have. I used the sniper rifle a lot as well, for clearing out any area I would need to advance to. Sniper rifle made the Volcano stage a breeze I thought.

What a great game though and this is the first day in a while where I didn't rush home from work to play it since the only thing left is to try a more difficult playing mode.

I used the M16 almost exclusively through the whole game... every now and then ya need the rocket launcher, but I'd say 90% of the time I used the M16.

The shotgun is my friend in the indoor levels, that and the nade launcher of the AG36

I bet a lot of people who say FC is 'meh' haven't made it to where the trigen levels really start. Some of the thinking behind the levels and the shadow/lighting effects indoors are just amazing.

Really enjoying this one. I'd guess I'm about halfway through. I just had the sniperfest across the bridges getting ready to go in and try to save val.

I'm playing on the Hard level and it is really difficult. It's made even more difficult by the fact that I don't really get too much time to play it. I play the game at 1280 x 1024 with all the eye candy turned up and it runs quite well. However, when I dropped the resolution down to 1024 x 768 I found the game significantly easier. I'm on Level 12 - Archive and on the 5th saved point. I'm fighting off an elite force at the moment and this d@mned guy with a RL is annoying the hell outta me.

I think I need to leave it for a while and come back to it at a later date. :)

Found myself doing that quite a bit in the Archives, Catacombs and Rebellion. My favorite map was Boat simply because the environment was spectacular and it was a covert, objective based map. Wasn't difficult at all but just made for an enjoyable experience after coming off so of those dark and trigen-infested interior environments. I enjoyed cruising down the waterway on River too.

This is the first game since the original Doom where I constantly had dreams about the game from playing so much before going to bed...lol. Some were pretty freaky.

I'm on my way to the Archives right now. I just made it outside finally to that sort of base thingy. I made it through that and got back to where I can see the ocean. There are three of those giant cannon guys down the hill, I don't know what the crap I'm gonna do.

I just got to that point after picking the game again after a long hiatus. Once you get inside the building, it's crap from there, as you have to fight some invisible bastards, and they can only be seen with the crygoggles.

Well, I can understand your sentiment. But try something new. I have got stuck like that a few times too. But at least on a couple of places the solution is to run forward and get to a gatling machinegun, and let em have it.
Then in one place, I ran back to the Gatling three times, with trigons on my heels, letting them have it.
Just try a different approach, be creative.

Keep on struggling guys:

There is a HUGE reward late in the game.
- The River!!! Wonderful, beautiful beyond belief, and very very fun!
If you try to be clever, It's not even hard. I pretty much aced it, at medium, and I'm not good at this.
Pure enjoyment.

Then after that, there is a really crazy roller coaster ride in a 4WD, machinegunning and rocketing all out.

I'm just like WOW.

OMG! Are you kidding me? Dudes, this game freakin' rocks. I just bought it a week ago and am running it on a new box.

Absolutely beautiful; unprecedented A.I.; screen-shot lovers paradise ;)

I have no idea which level I am on, but in deep.

Mad props to the coders and CryEngine peeps.

I like the gameplay of Far Cry much better than Doom III. Both are great the first time around, but replay value of Far Cry is much better. In Far Cry you can explore the almost wide open environment, take different routes, and the enemy AI is competent.

this game actually hooked me. Doom3 was easy to put down for days at a time. Farcry was much harder and far more rewarding. best game I've played in years.

Well I've finished FarCry at 4th level(one before the realistic one) back in the first days.
It took me ~20 days with 3hrs average per day. It was really hard to beat it,especially in the end where I thought that I wouldn't made it. In some checkpoints the game is simply madness and it required a lot of patience and attention along with skills.
Great SP experience(one of the best overall),not so good MP(not comparable to COD MP by any means).
Generally simply the best graphics out there and the 2nd best FPS regarding gameplay this year(Halo is my best).

I think Far Cry is a very good game. My 8 yr old son and I have been having a lot of fun in unexpected ways. For example:

(1) At the level where you are suppoosed to blow up the three towers. We take turns flying the glider and have contests to see who can fly the farthest etc.

(2) The River level, which is beautiful and has some other fun stuff. Just b4 you get to the point where the river is blocked by the modular/portable bridge, there is a little pier thingy I blew up leaving a ramp next to the bank. We take turn seeing who can jump the boat farthest off the ramp. If you go off a little crooked, the physics are pretty interesting.

(3) Same level, keep replaying just to watch the 'copter blow up and crash. I like it best when I can make it blow up over the river and then watch it splash down.

For me this game has a lot of replay value. I like sneaking around in the moon-lit jungle, or sunny beach finding different ways to attack etc. Or, just hanging out in one of the pretty maps enjoying the eye candy and playing with the physics (At the fort level, shoot the chain holding up the big shark. Then try to push, shove, roll the sharl off the deck onto the beach. After that you can get it into the water with some work and use it for target practice).

Then again, maybe we're just easily entertained ;)

It was such a good game until you get to the dog alien type things. I was like "didn't i just play this game? (doom3)" I quit playing after a while with those things. Do i ever start fighing people anymore? Or do the dog things get guns and shoot back? Or is the rest of the game mindlessly killing mutants?

When I play games, I play once with god mode, then again without. Is there a god mode cheat for farcry?

Unlike D2, in which grenades are useless, grenades are SUPER against trigens. open a door, toss a grenade in and close the door.
