I just set up my old IBM P260 for my cousin, and man, I forgot how nice CRTs look. No blur, no grid, just 2048x1560 pixels of awesome.

Makes me nostalgic. :(

You'll get over it again! :) I miss my FW900... but I still have the non-widescreen version of it for lanning :)

No motion blur and no pixel grid. My 2405, 2407, and 2408 each have both of those. They're still wonderful monitors, but good CRTs are just so smooth.

My FP2141SB-BK is still easily the best display in my house- the contrast and speed of it are far beyond what the sickly LCDs can do. OLEDs please hurry :(

Heh, I gave it my company when I left (I ended up going back). They gave it back to me when I came back because it was too large and heavy. :p

I LOL'ed. I remember setting up dual 21" CRT's. My back definitely was complaining.

One thing I do not miss, though I will concede CRT's still trump LCD's for the most part, is the flickering. I would sometimes notice flickering even with the monitor set to 85hz or 100hz.

I still have the bow in my desk from the weight of the old CRT all those years. I don't miss it.

Motion blur == death.

Maybe some LCDs reduce or eliminate it, but every LCD I've ever used (which, honestly, are usually the cheaper ones) exhibit a blurring effect with motion. Compared to every CRT I've used, there is a huge difference in motion. On some of the older/crappy CRTs, however, I do notice flickering with quick motion. But with everyday use flicker has never bothered me, even at 60 Hz.

motion blur == urban legend

You're kidding me, right?

If memory serves, 3Dfx spent a good deal of advertising money touting the benefits of their motion blur feature on their Voodoo 5 line up.

Having said that, I notice zero motion blur on my Dell 2407. Didn't see any on my old, cheap NEC LCD either, though it had a serious problem displaying dark colors and would blur everything into this blackish-green color. The 2407's only flaw is the power button, which is broken.

find me a tube monitor that only takes up the space of my 27.5" Hanns-G LCD, or for that matter, wouldnt snap my industrial quality desk in half, and i might consider it. it was a sad day the day i gave up my 2048x1536 trinitron 21 inch tube, right until i realized just how much easier it was to do everything else. just wait for OLED displays to mature and you will be throwing rocks at your old CRTs lol

Exactly. That day hasn't come though, yet. I'm still using 19" CRT's. I would like to go LCD/LED, but not when there are sacrifices with regards to blurring, input lag, etc.

I love my LG LCD way more than my IBM P275 CRT. It is so much easier on the eyes it's just ridiculous. It also displays a far more clear picture. Analog is so bad.

Well there's your problem.. You got an IBM monitor <_<.

Good CRT's display a much more clear & faster image with better color/contrast range than LCD's do.

You are bringing back my old nightmares of reboxing and returning faulty CRTs that had poor geometry and other issues,I finally threw away my radiation suit too ;).

I take a WS LCD anytime now ,they have improved and are getting better each year :).

Geometry issues, convergence, fading, focus, color balance issues..etc...etc.... the older the CRTs get the more flaws they will have.

You clearly don't have a clue.
