New CA tax law to encourage more gay relationship. Anyone want to partner up with me? I want to save on my tax.

- Joint income for domestic partners: Starting with tax year 2007, couples who have registered as domestic partners with the secretary of state will be treated like married couples for state-tax purposes. Partners also will become potentially liable for each other's state-tax debts.

Good question. It said domestic partner, so this law should apply to straight and gay relationship. Make sure you aren't dating someone that doesn't pay taxes when they should be.

Civil unions aren't exclusive to gays.

Wow, in my state we get penalized for being married. We actually lose money because our deductions are lower combined than they would be filing seperatly. How does being together save you money?

EDIT: It's been a long time since I've done the math, but I believe it was actually a federal tax issue, and for my income range the "marriage tax" amounted to about ~$500 annually. Not positive on that, feel free to correct me :)
