First of all let me tell you my specs:

Celeron 2 566 overclocked to 707mhz (Default voltage SlotKet2)
128mb PC133 ECC Dimm (IBM Brand 2-2-2)
6.4 Quantum Fireball
SB Live Value
Abit BH6 rev 1.0x
Creative 54X Cd-rom
Hercules GeForce 32mb DDR\DVI

Every time I tried to turn off the comp the windows protection error would always show. So I went to this site (I forgot the name) and updated my Hercules bios to use the newer Nvidia bios. And now my hibernate (which didn't work before) now works and no error on shutdown!!!!!

Hope this helps you guys out.

Well, This really WOULD help if you could point to that bios update and list the details/version

thanks.

having the same problem, but I have always thought it was because I was running two Hard Drives. Whenever I shut down and one drive was not spinning, I would get windows protection errors. If I went into that second drive, looked at some files, and then shut down...Viola! now Windows Protection errors!! go figure...
