I fixed my Outlook 2000 problem!

I was using Seti Hide to pause Outlook 2000 in Windows 2000 on my dad's P3 850. Somehow the halt_if_running.txt feature stopped working, so I couldn't run seti on his pc anymore. Today I was messing around with his Outlook install, and I removed "Net Folders". So far it seems to have fixed the Outlook & SETI conflict! 😀 Another couple WU's a day! 😎

That's great news. I'll have to check at work and see if we have Net Folders or not. If we do, they are gone! 🙂

Hmmm - That's interesting. At work our "IT" dept has that in it's SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for Office2k suites. I wonder if I have a SETI "freak" (no offense to those/us who consider ourselves Seti freaks) working on assimilating our company's computers😛

I'll have to poke around and see - maybe I can get him to join the BEST Seti TeAm in the land ( that's Team Anandtech for you lurkers from other teams 😉 )

Where is the net folders option?

I have no problem at work where we have an exchange server. However, for some reason I see the slow down at home with outlook 2000. I knew it had something to do with "offline folders" but I didn't see that anywhere.

Net Folders are a way to share your local folders with anyone you can send email to. For example, you can share your Contacts folder or Calendar folder with someone else. You do not need Net Folders to send and receive email.

My understanding is that Net Folders is an optional component that you must select when you install Lookout, er, Outlook. It is not installed by default in a typical installation. (Of course, if you do a complete install, Net Folders will be installed.)

Got to Add/Remove programs in control panel and select the Change option (I'm using Win XP Pro, not sure if Win2k A/RP is the same...) for Office, or Outlook if Outlook is installed separately. Expand the Microsoft Outlook tree and you should see the Net Folders option. It's default setup is "On first use". Set it to "Unavailable" to uninstall it if it's currently installed.
