I find great pleasure in doing taxes

I know I have to do it within the next two days so who here hasn't done their taxing yet? Why can't the IRS do it for us since they obviously have all the info on us? This way I don't have to waste my time.

i sold employee-discounted stock in 2004 and that has been a major pain in my @$$ as far as reporting it goes... delayed many days because of trying to get it right. :|

they dont have all your info? They dont know how much I gave to charities and all...I have to tell them that. thats why you keep reciepts

Turbo Tax certainly makes it easier but even TT is a pain if you have a complicated return. I finally got ours done on Sunday, we owe a lot of money so I wasn't in a hurry to get it done.

In all seriousness, if this is a serious question, you need to take govt/civics course ASAP.

The IRS doesn't have all the info on us, nor should it. You shouldn't trust the gov't to tell you how much money you should give them.

My total income last year is $700 I was told. I was working as a freelance delivery person and they never took taxes off the checks I received. I didn't get a W2 form but form 1099-MISC from the company I worked with. I don't know exactly what that entails but I'm sure I'll find out on Friday when I do the taxes. That's my only free time and hopefully I can file online.

Does anyone know what forms I need to fill out? If I itemize all the bags of chips I ate last year, do I need to mail in the receipts?

Claim miles! ...

I used to make good bank by doing taxes for other students when I was in college. I'd charge $10 and only take the easy ones (W-2s and 1099's only).

You wouldn't believe how many people paid me to do what they could have done themselves in a few minutes. I'd take their paperwork with me so they didn't see that it took me so little time, then give them their completed forms the next day.

I worked as a freelancer so they never took out taxes from my paycheck. I did my taxes lastnight using efile from TurboTax. It tells, me that I owe $55 in Federal taxes and i'm due an $80 refund for my state return. Is that possible? How can I have a refund when they never took taxes off my paycheck. If anything I would owe something. What did I do wrong. Will the IRS fix any mistake I made on my return?
