Hey,

The best I've managed with my 1900+ chip is 11x150=1650mhz...

I've got some nice Samsung PC2700 ram, and I was hoping to hit ~166mhz FSB...it doesn't want to post at anything higher than 152 tho. I've tried adjusting the ram timings to no avail. It's also strange to note that it won't post at certain multiplier settings. My motherboard is an Abit KX7-333. If anyone here has a similar setup I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks,

lwoer the mult to about 9 and up the fsb to 166 for the 1/5 pci divider to kick in (at most relaxed ram timings of course)

hey,

i've tried everything and i can't get my computer to post at any multiplier lower than 11. i have a feeling i might have to connect the L11 bridges to lock the voltage at 1.85; i remember with my old athlon 1333 that it woudn't overclock properly without the voltage bridges being connected. anyhow thanks for the tip.

i still could use some help on this one, people!

It seems that you did not really unlock the processor. Keep trying until you are able to access the lower multipliers. If you set your FSB at 133, you should be able to access the lower multipliers with default VCore.

EDIT: Which unlocking method are you using?

I used superglue to fill the pits then I used silver trace paint to connect the L1 bridges...

How can I remove what I've done though? Man, this unlocking job is turning out to be a PAIN!!

<EDIT: It actually posts at a multiplier of 5 and 5.5...very strange>

I'm having the exact same problems as you are and am using the same method. I even went out and bought a multimeter to test the connections with. Of course, I can't figure out what readings I should be getting. I know some of them are working because I can get it to set the fsb to 11 or 11.5 but that's about it.

I've removed the paint (using alcohol) several times and repainted. I even added some additional glue to make sure I wasn't grounding out. Still nothing. My friend did his in half an hour and it worked for him the first time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Seems like we're in the same boat...I'll keep you posted if I can figure this one out.

The strange thing is that I actually performed the mod twice...the first time I couldn't change the multiplier at all, but now I have a few that will work (5, 5.5, 11, 11.5).

Where can you buy that acetone stuff? Hardware store?

I have a feeling that we'll have to connect a few more bridges to get this mod to work...I have a feeling it's the voltage ones...I can't say for sure tho, and unlike the tbird unlocking this is a little more permanent so I'm afraid to try it.

OK I found this but I'm afraid to try it without someone verifying it for me:

Should I hard-wire my FSB to 10?? It's so tempting...

You can use finger nail polish remover in place of acetone (fnp actually is acetone with some other chemicals). I use it to clean processors all the time (I just steal my wife's).

I can't get to that page so I couldn't tell you. I'm going to try again tonight and if I can't get it, I think I'm done. I can get my fsb up to 147 and that overclocks my processor to about 2100 levels so I'm satisfied with that. I'm sure I could get more out of it if I could unlock it but probably not much.
