I FINALLY ordered my laptop today

Went down to Best Buy and finally took care of business. I ordered a HP zt3000 with the following specs:

Pentium-M 1.5GHz
512MB RAM (2x256)
60GB 5400RPM HDD
15" WSXGA Display
802.11g / Bluetooth
DVD+RW
64MB Radeon 9200

Came out to $1723 AR + tax. Got 18 month no interest financing and the three year PSP on it so I think I'm covered for awhile. Not going to open it until a day after the return policy ends, just in case HP decides to put the Radeon 9600 graphics chip in. Then I can just return it and reorder. Yay for me!

Wow, did you look into the dell.com deals? They recently had a killer deal for a nice system for roughly half of that price.

If you're not gonna open it what's the point of purchasing it now ?

X1000 is the same laptop in a different casing except that it only comes with WXGA resolution or WUXGA resolution...neither of which are my cup of tea. I really wanted a Pentium-M so that rules out the 8500.

Cool I didn't know they're the same laptop.

I have to say that I have been VERY happy with my Compaq Presario 1500T over the past 14 months but I might sell it because I got bills up to wazoo.

When are you going to take some pics of your new laptop?

good thing you didn't open it yet.

I never made any such claims that it was a "hot deal". Just that I am happy that I finally decided what I wanted and I think I paid a good price for it. Also, show me a better deal in which I have the same equip, no interest financing for 18 months, and can take it in for repair 2 minutes away...

It still has to be built. They didnt have a model with the exact specs that I wanted so I did a custom job. You can be sure I will post pics as soon as it gets here though!

Okay, show me something with a good price with the same extra beenfits that I got.

A Dell with the same components is $100 less. It however doesnt include the 18 month no interest financing, battery coverage on the warranty, touchpad scroller or the SD/MMC flash card input. The price may indeed be lower, but the extra intangibles that I got with the HP are worth at least $100 to me.
