I finally get DVR and there is nothing worth watching or recording.

That's why I buy DVD sets instead of paying for cable; there just aren't enough good tv shows I want to watch during a month. Family Guy and American Dad are free OTA, and I can wait on the BSG and Veronica Mars DVD sets. I can always get more oldschool stuff as well. Nowhere Man is coming out on DVD after Christmas. I've been wanting that series on tape/DVD since 1996.

So true!

We're going to Tivo that lame music awards thing on CBS while I watch Bridget Jones 2 on cable.

oh well.

i can't wait till 24 starts mid january. 😉

That's why I cancelled cable in 2002. I'd love to set up a MythTV box and PVR cards and all that, but then I remember that there's absolutely nothing worth recording.

I just got a DirecTV DVR and after adding it to my account I find out I'm forced into another two year service agreement with DTV or face a $300 fine for early termination.

I've had DTV for the last four years.

<---pissed

Wait until January when Monk, Prison Break, Supernatural, 24, The Shield, Lost, Invasion, Medium, Stargate, Stargate Atlantis and several I'm sure I've forgotten start back up. Then you'll be glad you have the DVR.

Me too.

Finally got a PVR through my digital sat company and damn if I can't find much to record.
I remember thinking 'wow when I get a PVR I can record tons of stuff'. Doh.

Yeah, this is December so most of the good shows are on hiatus for the holidays. Things get cranking up again in January.

Yep, that is the reason I don't have it. I don't even get the premium movie channels because they aren't premium. Last time I had HBO, Starz, and Cinemax we would only watch about one movie a month. Cheaper to buy or rent them. They were OK when they came with the basic service, but pay extra? No!

Get back to PN where you belong! 😛

Hey I don't even HAVE television. Oh yeah I have a HT setup, but I just watch DVDs. TV is trash. Worthless.

Don't like sports? That's my main use for the DVR. For example, watching a football game can easily be compressed to under two hours. It's also great for grabbing the Tour de France or other TV stuff that is shown at inconvenient or impossible hours (the Tour because of the time difference with France, takes place in the middle of the work day here!).

Agreed, though I do like some of the stuff on these days. E Ring comes to mind.

I get too tired of arguing with those idiots! Talk about not suffering fools easily! P&N is sort of like playing chess. You play your game and eventually someone has to beat you. The secret is in not showing a tell so that they never know until the king goes down.

I can count six premium short wave radios in sight as I type. They are more entertaining than TV on most days and that is totally without consideration of the scanners. If you have to live vicariously there are lots of ways to do it. A finely tuned mix is my goal.
