1 month, 47 savegames, and 18 hours of gameplay.
impressive on the visual level, but i got to say, same problems for me as grimrock 1: the puzzles just lock you out of the game.
too many times i have had to resort to youtube to find out just how some insane puzzle gets solved. the story puzzles are well made, it's easy enough to find the solution with the hints you are given, but simple puzzles such as the spider in the teleporter rely on guessing the shape of the map or some other element one cannot see; and not only do they take tons of trial and error, but sometimes they punish you with a drop down a level, broken legs or a reload.
and none (or barely any) of the puzzles are optional. combat, it seems, it a afterthought addition. the slow advancement would not be a problem in itself if not for the fact that it can lock you out of fundamental abilities for a long while.
finally, and its weird, i think the last portions of the game were far easier than the middle part. they maybe ran out of ideas, or realized how hard they were making it. a few riddles are just insane; "turn and look where the statue look" is easy enough, but omit "but wait for about 20 seconds" and you'll see how 99% of gamers will never, ever solve this puzzle.
all in all, i had fun playing it, but i consider reading spoilers an integral part of the game - do what puzzles you can on your own, and google the rest.
