I finally decided-ordered a Samsung 244T

I noticed my chipset drivers were making my mouse laggy in tandem with my graphics drivers, even at 75 Hz vertical. I uninstalled the chipset drivers and my mouse was smooth as butter. My friend told me that he cannot even use his mouse without disabling USB Legacy in the BIOS.

After reading some posts on a Dell forum about the mouse lag issue I brought down the "Hardware Acceleration" slider from the Display Properties panel by one notch.
Result is that the mouse no longer lags, I brought down monitor frequency to 60hz as well (from 100hz).
I can't tell though if that lag that can be demonstrated is still there or not as I don't have a CRT to test against.

I will try playing with the other DVI settings from the ATI control panel but I am sure they will have less of an impact than this slider.

I have a Radeon 9700 Pro graphics card using the very latest Omega drivers and I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2.

It could also be from response time. I noticed when watching a video my CRT didn't tear but my LCD did during motion. But, at the same time, I notice no tearing like that when watching HDTV from a tuner on my LCD, but I guess it's hard to tell.

I doubt that it's because of the OS. Could be half frames. Could also be image processing done by the LCD. I think the LCD probably runs with a internal frame buffer and isn't truly in sync with the video signal the same way a CRT is.

I got a 244t today and it has the input lag issue 🙁. its definately going back if i can't resolve this, as it makes games like quake3 really hard to play. im using an nvidia card so i don't have any options like those on the ati card. also a guy on the hardocp forums tried your fix and it didnt work anyway. I think the 244 is definately going back to the store. It's a shame too because it probably has the best image quality i've ever seen. The input lag is just horrible though and i noticed it immediately after plugging it in.

i tried bringing the hardware accel slider down a notch, and it seemed to reduce lag somewhat in windows (nowhere near all of it though) but in games the screen still waited 30 ms or so before responding to mouse input, just as before.

are you sure it's the 244T?

What type of Nvidia card are you using? DVI connection or RGB? do you have the horsepower(CPU and GPU) to run Q3 at 1920x1200 native rez?

I have an EVGA 7800GTX KO card. I run Q3/Q4, COD2, Doom3, HL2 all at the highest settings(note I DONt run Doom3 in Ultra, just maximum), with the highest AA/AF settings available.

And that's NOT in SLI mode(I have my 2nd card at EVGA now getting upgraded through their step up program to a 7900GTX). That's a single board I am currently using

it's the most incredible ride i've ever been on sitting down.

before returning the 244t make sure it's not something else. the 244t is a next gen. panel and i just find it hard to believe it's causing this "lag" problem you and others describe.

I've had mine for a month. there is no lag, no ghosting, just perfect synchronization, and I used a Mitsubishi diamondpro 2070 for about 5 years. A very highly rated CRT, and I'm sure i would have noticed if there was any hitch in this video.

I will admit that it takes some serious horsepower to drive this panel properly......just make sure you're looking in the right place trying to find your problem......

I have an evga 7800 GT. it can easily power quake3 at pretty much any res. I kept the monitor though. I found that the bulk of the problem was having VSYNCH enabled. (stupid me). the input delay is still readily apparently to me, in quake3 especially, but i don't have much of a problem in CounterStrike, so I kept the monitor. I think you would find that you can tell the difference in quake3 if you put a crt beside it and quickly moved the mouse around. the lcd just isn't tightly "locked" to the input like the crt is. also in general windows usage, its very apparent that the mouse cursor doesnt perfectly track your input. if you have a high quality mouse like i do (logitech g7) it is probably way easier to tell. if i move the mouse over to the crt (in dual monitor mode) it feels like the input resolution and precision is being quadrupled.

wow, that's just so different from my experience. I have my Mitsubishi 2070 running alongside the 244t. i see absolutely no mouse input lag on any game I bring up, including Q3 in Ultra graphics mode.

I too have a G7, with the highest 2000dpi setting activated. The mouse flies on both monitors exactly where I expect it to be.

Guess I should be glad I got a good one.........
