I finally crossed the line......

I have about 20 computer related fans in various computers in my bedroom. My wife never said anything. OK, she said stuff, but never asked me to turn any of it off, until....

I turned on a caseless system running a 7000RPM Dragon Orb 3(only 37dBA)..... She said she couldn't sleep with "that thing" on.... lol You wouldn't believe how loud one of those things are until you run it outside of a case all day long...

I guess that one just crunches during the day....... 🙂

<< "But honey, pretend it's a crackling fire keeping us warm. Can't you feel the romance?" >>

LOL. I'll remember that for when I'm married.🙂

IJ, I had 8 computers in my bedroom in the corporate apartment I recently vacated. All CPU were overclocked, so like you there was a lot of fan noise. My wife came to visit for a weekend so I planned a trip to Hot Spring, AK, so I could keep the computers running! 🙂

I actually liked the high noise level as it masked ALL outside noises!

Crackling fire? I doubt she'd go for that....... "Nothing like the whirring sound of a fire, dear" 😉

It is usually quite warm in here. That is fine during the winter, but it isn't that great during the summer.....

I would love to move it to another room, but when our daughter was born, she get priority over the computers having a room. Go figure..... 🙂

Our next house will have a basement for my computers..... we have already decided that. She never realized that I only bought computer stuff and never got rid of any of it.... 😀

Now this has given me a great idea. I actually run one of the Sharper Image Sound Machines to mask noise at night. I prefer the "white noise" sound. 🙂

No, my wife would never allow that ... she's too concerned with "esthetics" and her model bedroom. Oh well ... maybe a laptop on my nightstand. :Q

As another student of "esthetics" (evadman) would say, "IJump, You da' Man!". 😀

Well, this might be more comparable to white-water noise!! 😛

Maybe not quite as bad as some of you here, but in my bedroom there is an overclocked Athlon 1.0@1.467GHz, with 2x 120mm, 2x92mm fans, dual Celeron 400 with Coolermaster Athlon HSFs (which are loud) and the 24 port 10mbps hub with 2x 40mm Delta fans!

All creates a nice whirrriing, and the room doesn't seem right without it!

In the front room there is a K6 233 on 24/7, and after about 3 days my mum never noticed it! She now is like me where she would notice it more if it wasn't on! 🙂 That and my nagging when i turn it off means she keeps it on all the time! 😀

My site, pics of computers etc
