So did anyone actually read the article?

"The guy said, 'I don't know how to use [the credit card machine],'" said Perez, who said the dispute began in front of her home near E. Third St. and Avenue C. "I said, 'I'm going to use this credit card machine.'"

Eying the gadget, Perez noticed it appeared operable and "not very difficult at all," she said. "I said, 'This is your responsibility to know how to use this machine. This is your cab. If you don't know how to use it, then I'm not paying you.'"

I would've punched her in the face, too.

Anyway, would the guy just lose his licence, or could the medallion be taken away? that would be prettttttty bad

Seriously, a LOT of these drivers gets royally pissed if you even mention CC. Usually the moment they stop the meter, they stick their hand out expecting you to pay them in cash. It pisses me off.

You quite literally press ONE button to enable CC payment.

Originally when the city announced mandatory GPS tracking in cabs and car services, it was a huge deal to the drivers and they striked. With CCs, they're even more pissed.

Even as annoying as she was being, she has a point. If you advertise your cab as being able to take CC (such as having a CC machine) then you can't all of a sudden back out and say that you can't take CCs when payment comes due.

? !

A: Family was el cheapo most of the time, rather use public transport/walk than cab. So maybe 1 cab ride every other year. I only used a cab once on my own cause I decided to buy a stereo system and couldn't hump it down the block to the bus stop.

B: I am cheap and walk or use public transport. You should hear about the time I spent an hour and a half walking cause I ran out of PT tickets:).

And you know this because of your extensive third world travels, I presume.
