Could I have refused to put my hands under the light without a warrant?

Nope. Are you allowed to enter certain government buildings without going through a metal detector? Same principal applies
It was my place of residence, a dorm.

doesn't matter. in teh contract you signed to live in the dorms there is a clause that allows them to violate certain constitutional rights. and why do you feel violated. seminal fluid is only visible with a special lense so the only thing they could have seen was the dye.

P.S. it is seminal fluid not semen itself that glows and as i stated it requires a special lense to see.

i could be wrong but if u chalange the contract the court will rule that you can sign off your constitutional rights but then again i am not a lawyer. Yes u could have refused to put your hands under it. They could detain you under probable suspision for no longer then 20 min as unless they have other evdience in which case they can detain you under resanble suspecion

yes you could have refused but under probable cause they can hold you over night in order to get the warrant to test you all. but they don't need a warrant in this case. and under a new law passed about a year ago all tests refused by suspicous people are assumed to be guilty and can be aressted until a test may be administered to say otherwise.

Then stop dispensing legal advice unless you actually know what you are talking about.

The fire alarm in my dorm was so loud that I think it caused symptoms similar to those that "Shell-shocked" veterans experience.

Long story short, somebody pulled the fire alarm, everybody got their hands passed through a black light on the way in. Could I have refused to put my hands under the light without a warrant?
Sure you could refuse. Hell anyone can refuse anything.

Would you have been suspended or disciplined for refusing, then be searched against your will anyway? Yup.

They do not need a warrant for non-intrusive searches.

what is this crap? Yes, you could have refused...but this bullsh!t about ink in the fire alarm and sh!t has got to stop. There is no ink...its a myth.

I don't know anything about this, but then why would they want to look at peoples hands under a UV light?

because more than likely the school officials are stupid and believe dumb rumors...scare tactic at best

I would have refused even if I didn't do it...just because I hate the fact that people think that because you refuse to cooperate w/ authorities that you're automatically guilty. That and you're not under any obligation to cooperate with the cops and I think it's part of my duty to take advantage of my rights.
