Every good game that seems to be out or coming out is an rpg. I tried playing skyrim, fallout, ME, etc, etc. But I gave up after playing a day. I just couldnt get into it. Concept of levelling, talking to other characters, upgrading skills, etc is all too tedious and work like and not something I could enjoy.

Now everyone around me is raving about ME3, and future Diablo3, and I can just act like the nerd in a football discussion. It sucks. Why dont people make any good rts, action adventure games any more that are as anticipated as these rpgs???

If you want a good adventure game try Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception for the PS3 and Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the year edition for the PS3 or Xbox 360.

I feel the same way, the levelling system seems to have replaced the progression of actual player skill and understanding in games. I'm driven by novel game mechanics not stories.

You mention "good RTS" but you ignore that we've recently had Starcraft II, Supreme Commander, Company of Heroes, Dawn of War, World in Conflict, I could keep going.

As for action adventure - someone already mentioned Uncharted, but there's a few, like LA Noire, Assassin's Creed series, Darksiders, Saints Row, Prince of Persia, Protocol, etc.

Honestly, it just sounds like you don't pay much attention to games. :whiste:

If you don't like RPGs, you could always play th glut of first and third person shooters out there. There are still tons of RTS games out there. They're just not on consoles because console controllers aren't well suited for that type of game. Sega has released a number of high profile games in the Total War series in the last year. Starcraft II as well. They're all for Windows PC. Starfront Collision is a good one for touch screen devices.

Adventure games like LA Noir, Back to the Future. Platformers like Super Mario 3D Land, the Nintendo hard Super Meat Boy, Sonic Generations, Rayman: Origins. Darksiders II is coming out. First one was good just had complicated controls. Assassin's Creed III is coming out in time for "doomsday".

Why dont people make any good rts, action adventure games any more...

Action Adventure:
Rayman Origins (all platforms)
Uncharted Series (PS3)
Little Big Planet (PS3)
Rachet and Clank series (PS3)
Minecraft (360, PC)
Skyim (all platforms)
- Give Skyrim 5+ hours, then it really becomes aweeeeesome.

RTS (PC):
Start Craft II (duh)
Men of War series
Total War series
Company of Heroes series
Civilization series

IMO, RTS games belong on PC, you need kb and mouse for that genre.

These are just random titles from the top of my head.
There are plenty of games out there to choose from, you just sound irritated/bummed that your friends are enjoying "major" titles while you find them to be boring.

A lot of games are going to be RPG'ish (Especially major titles). A lot of people like a great story and submersing themselves in it. Why do you think MMORPG's are so popular?

You'd be surprised at how action filled some of these RPG games are. They tend to start out slow because you're building your characters story and persona. As things progress, the action picks up a ton. The Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Knights of the Old Republic series all start out "slow" and pick up on action a ton as things progress. In my opinion, if a single player game doesn't have a good story AND good gameplay, then its ultimately a very unfulfilled play through. And that means it was a waste of money. None of Biowares games have let me down, all have been very fun and intriguing to play. Skyrim is another. Give Skyrim 5-10 hours of your time, I guarantee you won't regret it.

Other than a truly competitive online shooter, which is pretty much an ancient myth since CoD4, RPG's will offer the most bang for the buck and best stories of any game genre you can play. If you just want to mash buttons and sling sticks then go pick up a fighting game like Marvel v Capcom, Street Fighter, or Mortal Kombat.

No offense, but stop getting all your ideas of games and what's available out there from the main page of IGN, and from "game of the minute" obsessed forums.

There are plenty of games in the last several years that don't get much attention, but are still very real, and very much for sale.
