You are wasting the gifts God had laid before you. Children in Africa (God hates them) don't have cash to blow. Think of those less fortunate than you and get out there and spend on crap you don't need. Anything less would be a slap in the face of all those poor bastards who have not. It is your destiny.

I have a list of stuff I want to buy, I always have to stop myself. The problem is, I need a new car, and to redo the foundation of my house, so I need to save my money. Rest will go on credit. So can't be spending on stuff I don't need.

Having a bazillion dollars still isn't a good reason to waste money. Being wasteful is one of America's largest problems, and we export our wastefulness around the world. Buy what you need, not what you want, especially tech items. Every month you wait, you can get something better for less money. You may find you don't even really want it.

Same problem... I want a bunch of things right now, but I second-guess my purchases a hundred times over. Lately, I've even bought stuff, realized I wouldn't get as much use as I'd like out of them, so returned them.

Oh well, I can stretch out my e-peen and tell everyone about my bank account balances.

I feel sick because I think about how to manage my funds so that I don't have to take a loan to pay my fees. I would have finished my Ph.D if they paid me enough.. for me to stop thinking about money.

I just had to think for a hundred times to purchase a $3 SPDIF cable.. for my home threater(My lab mate gave it to me after he graduated). FML

Can you afford these purchases? Do you have the funds readily available in a liquid account (savings/checking) account?

Or is it a matter of justifying the purchase?

What annoys me is that I have no problem dropping a buck at the work soda machine but will agonize over whether or not to buy an app for a buck.

probably because the soda machine=loose change
app=you have to actually "work" for it

(if you get what im trying to say)

Man I'm relating to this right now... they have iPad 2's for $359 at Microcenter right now... thinking about picking one up but I have to part with the money to do so... I've got a pile of ebooks that I need a reader for and that would be pretty handy.

Buy everything. Be selfish. You may get shot in the face tomorrow while eating pancakes at iHop.

100% truth

I smoke like ten packs of cigarettes a week, eat tons of candy bars, drink liters of soda and energy drinks. And then, I procrastinate over a stupid purchase on Windows Phone Marketplace or a Steam Special.

At least I stopped buying books until I actually finish what's already sitting unread on my shelves. I also have a ton of games that I have bought during various Steam sales - it's a terrible feeling, launching a game I bought excitedly an year ago and getting the EULA pop-up.

Opposite problem. I'll drop a buck on an app in a heart beat but won't buy soda out of a machine because it's so damn expensive these days.

I guess I remember a time when coke's were fifty cents and software programs were thirty bucks minimum.

I do the same. It's not that I can't afford but I tend to not buy things when I convince myself I don't need them. Essentials I don't ever think about the money but material things that I don't need I never buy. I guess it's a little bit of being frugal and a little bit of financial responsibility.

Stick it in the bank so they can lend it to people who will spend it for you.
