I feel like there are hardly any options...

It seems like if you want gync and 1440p with 144mhz you only have 1 or 2 options.... Is g-sync really that important? I wont be buying an AMD but i would feel weird buying a freesync monitor with good stats because its cheaper than gync ones. Am i wrong to feel that way? I will be getting a gtx 1070 and MAYBE a 1080ti when it comes out instead. Will having g-sync really be that important with a 1440p monitor?

Going to depend on how sensitive you are to those types of things. I like the Freesync but it has not been a KILLER feature for me. Honesty just switching to 144hz eliminated a lot of the very noticeable tearing, although it is still there. I have been using the Blur Reduction feature on my monitor and prefer it to Freesync only switching with games that are not very twitchy. However, that being said my monitor was not cheap, running around 500 bucks. The Gsync version of the panel was about 100 bucks more but sometimes is on sale for 500.

Want to stick with nvidia only then suffer with the scraps you are thrown in the monitor department.

I'm looking at larger size displays for my next upgrade, 40"+ and 4k, there are ZERO gsync options there, the highest they go are those 34" 3440x1440p displays from the likes of acer and other established players, and ask north of 1200 dollars for the privilege.

On the freesync side? You have offerings like this

http://www.amazon.com/WASABI-MANGO-...SC2P0K/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1464661335

Less than half the price, larger size, 4k, and freesync.

Stay an nvidia for lifer, and suffer the consequences. These are self imposed cages. You put those chains on yourself.

I have no bias with NVIDIA or AMD. I buy whats the best bang for the buck at the time and its has always been Nvidia. MY last graphics purchase was the GTX 670. I will most likely buy a new GTX in the coming months unless AMD surprising people with their Polaris which i doubt will be faster than the 1070.

Anyways, about monitors, I feel like i may buy a 144 mhz 1440p freesync monitor even though i may buy an Nvidia card simply because g syncs are too few and too expensive. The mroe I read the mor it seems like g sync and freesync are useless with 144 mhz simply because more cards arent going past 144 fps.

I could go into a whole thing about how the P10 + 144 mhz 1440p freesync is a FAR better deal by so much but whatever.

I still think it's a good idea to get a 1070 with a freesync monitor. Thing is, I don't think gsync is going to last much longer. Not many new monitors come out, it's expensive, and freesync gets lots of monitors/interest. I think Nvidia will either be forced to adopt freesync, or will leave gsync as the luxury option for the high end g amers hwo are w illing to pay extra.

However, it leaves you open to always being able to trade your 1070 for an AMD card if you want and also get the benefit of freesync, or upgrade to an AMD card some time down the stretch of the 2-5 years or however long people own monitors for.

Not to mention it's still a good monitor.

I may not get P10 on launch day, but I'd definitely get it at the right price/perf with a freesync monitor over a 1070 any day. Gsync way too expensive and way too limited in options.
