I feel like a kid again when Sundays roll around

NASCAR: Rednecks driving in circles.

Yep.. I never really got the appeal. A whole lot of identical cars that all sound the same driving around in circles, with the occasional crash.

The problem I have with NASCAR is the immense fakeness. The cars have nothing in common with their production counterparts, yet the S in NASCAR stands for "Stock". The cars do not look similar except for stickers to imitate headlights, they are RWD, they are V8 powered, the TEMPLATES are not even based on real cars, but on models designed to make all competitors equal.. *BARF*

ive always lived in the US. wtf is nascar?

in order to get me interested in car racing, youd have to start a league where amateurs, without support teams or $millions in R&D, competed against similar budget ranges. real cars, real people, actually interesting.

Ok, F1 racing is pretty cool but watching cars go around a circle is crap. I would actually rather watch baseball than NASCAR, and I hate baseball with a passion.

National Association for something or other.

You know, Daytona 500? Cars with bodies? That's NASCAR.

As far as that in which you'd be interested, that's called Friday/Saturday night short track racing. Found just about anywhere not highly urban.

To be fair, I'm not your typical NASCAR demographic. Live in the Suburbs of DC, professional, wear a tie at work, Master's Degree.

Thing is I dropped out of school and worked as a mechanic for three years in my early 20s. I got into it by osmosis, and now I'm hooked.

Also I will not dispute that F1 is the highest for of auto racing in the world. But NASCAR is so much more fun. One of the things I like is the adjustability of the race cars, where a car that is running like crap, or even a lap or two down, can come back to win. Also, there is contact between the cars.

When was the last time you saw in F1 two cars touch each other and they both went on to finish the race? or Schumacher coming from 1+ laps down to win a race?

Another form of racing that is uber kick-ass is rally racing. Also the racers' names kick ass.

Harri Rovanperra just rolls off the tongue....

Incidentally, there have been like 5 spins in the first 35 laps in this race. If you like crashes, this is the race to watch. Assuming by the time you turn on the TV that there are enough cars left to wrech with each other!
